We had a family gathering of 17 of us here which took up the entire hotel. Whilst most of the rooms we had between ups were cosy and warm, a couple was freeeeezing! Not a problem for us, but worth thinking about if you plan to travel here in cooler months - take some warm PJs!!!

Location was perfect as we had a family wedding just down the road. Was easy for taxi drop off. Rooms were immaculate, breakfast was superb.

No chef available after 6.30pm so no dinner service. This was not made clear on the web site not after we had booked.

Lack of variety/chioce in evening menu. Would have preferred a later time for evening meal. When booking thro Booking.com there was no way of knowing there were two flights of stairs to our room and we are in our 80s.

There was an issue with the food. I’ve got to say the service recovery by the chef and the bar manager was excellent- absolutely care about the customer.

Location was very good, nice view of reservoir, good for access to the coast. The gent working behind the desk, the bar and in the restaurant was incredibly friendly and helpful.

The restaurant and bar closed very early and we were encouraged to eat elsewhere in the evening. The room was noisy because of traffic on the main road outside. The refurbished modern room did not include the old style sash windows, which allowed noise to travel in.

Breakfast was good and the staff were friendly and efficient. Room was large, comfortable and modern.

As I didn’t know the area I assumed the property was actually in Saltburn-by -the-Sea but it is actually 20 minutes away situated opposite Scaling Dam. Still a nice location but not where I thought it was.

The staff were friendly and the room comfy. Breakfast was very good and although we didn’t have the Sunday roast it looked very nice.

Nothing to dislike here for us.

Really nice place to stay, our room was excellent and suited us just fine.. The bar was also very good and and the drinks were at sensible price's and delivered to our table. I found out that the hotel is on a bus route to Whitby which is a bonus. Nothing to dislike here we really enjoyed our stay.

There isn't anything not to like about this place.

Absolutely amazing place, from the rooms to the staff, which couldn't do enough for you. If you want peace and quiet from the busy whitby, then this is the place for you. The rooms are amazing, comfortable, and spotlessly clean,breakfast plentiful and delicious. A great little touch was the crazy golf that is located on the grounds. Thank you to all the staff.

Disappointed that the restaurant was empty of an evening so we chose to eat elsewhere (the Jolly Sailor and the Fox and Hounds). Also would have been nice to have a wardrobe or chest of drawers rather than living out of a suitcase.

Comfortable room with beautiful view of the reservoir, fabulous breakfast and friendly staff. Within easy reach of the coast for the Cleveland coastal path walks (our reason for visiting). Great shower with very nice toiletries provided.

The dining area and bar was cold (outside door open throughout the day despite the weather being stormy). The evening meals were terrible, no chef, microwave pinging constantly. We did raise our concerns, however, the reason given was they were unable to acquire a chef for evenings). Too many staff stating they had nothing to do due low occupancy. No one on site overnight, the doors were locked by the last staff member leaving at 10 pm. Same cakes appeared to be on display the four days we were there (3nights). The last breakfast was not what we ordered so it was sent back. When it was delivered elements we off the original one but cold.
