Our stay was absolutely faultless. We couldn't have wished for a more perfect country escape. We loved the little touches in the room, such as the homemade fudge and fresh milk and elderflower cordial in the mini fridge and the list of suggested walks with accompanying laminated pamplets which included a map and instructions. Our favourite walk was to the local vineyard (Artelium) - which was very idyllic and the vineyard was superb.

Little things. Fridge noisy (but it was nice to have one). Bed not the most comfortable (but perfectly fine). Had to pick my way down the steps (but I think that was an oversight as there was a light on later).

This is one of those places you would call a 'find'. The bar is charming: comfortable, natural, friendly and old fashioned in the best way possible. The food was brilliant (and all the same descriptors apply). Room nicely done, bright and fun, with intelligently considerd facilities. Absolutely excellent shower.

It felt like arriving a a tucked-away country pub which the locals would wish to keep quiet about so that they could keep it to themselves! From the outside at the front, not much gives away the cosy, open-fired interior with cask beer barrels on show. Improvements in the garden point to an ambitious team with a vision for entertaining.

There is not much not to like, really. The only thing I could think of was the soggy path from the car park to the rooms.

We were very well looked after by attentive and friendly staff (particular thanks to Chrissie), the room was very spacious (we opted premium, other rooms looked much more modest in size) and well fitted. We found some unexpected comforts for a country inn like bathrobes, complimentary chocolates, milk and water in the fridge. The food is fantastic. A big and very delicious breakfast. We also had a fantastic lunch upon arrival. A really nice experience overall.

The steps up to the bedrooms at the back of the pub are a little hairy, but the staff are happy to help you negotiate them.

Very pretty pub with a roaring fire, and the emperor sized beds are like sleeping on a cloud. Hot and strong shower, homemade elderflower cordial and chocolates in the rooms. I’ve tried all the rooms during the time I’ve stayed, and they’re all great. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff who are kind and attentive, including setting me off to work with a hot bacon sandwich because I was leaving very early. The food is also fantastic and VERY importantly, they are dog friendly. I’ve already booked to return.
