How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Location good if like us you traveled by train.Easily accessible to all that we wanted to see in Liverpool. Breakfast very good and onsite restaurant a bonus with good menu and prices.

We decided to eat in the restaurant in the night time, to be asked straight away if we had booked, we hadn't but was happy to wait or go elsewhere, we were told yes you can eat but I need the table back in a hour which wasn't a problem but the man who seemed to be in charge came across a little rude and abrupt, which was off putting as all the other staff were polite, helpful and friendly
The receptionist when we arrived was amazing, so lovely pleasant and really helpful ☺️

We came for a night out in Liverpool and struggled with the lack of plug sockets (there were none near the bed) and the only two mirrors were in very poor lighting. There was also no air con (fans were provided but took up the few outlets we needed. The lifts are very small and not good for those who struggle with claustrophobia.
Pleasant staff and free parking next to the hotel. Comfy beds and big windows.

Found using the hairdryer with little chord was a problem as there wasn’t a mirror near the plug sockets.
Staff were excellent, very helpful and attentive. Hotel was in a prime position near station and amenities,restaurant, breakfast meals were very good, bed very comfy. A good sized room that was very clean and they left bottles of water and sweet treats in the fridge which i thought was a nice touch on our arrival.

The only issue we had was a fire alarm went off without warning. I mentioned this to reception on leaving. They did apologise and said that they would pass this information onto maintenance..
Love the location of The Liner Hotel. The reception staff when booking in we're very friendly also helpful. Breakfast was good. Hot and cold food. staff were very helpful. Room was excellent.

Would normally have a double room, but this was a last-minute booking on route from Manchester airport to Scotland, so didn't mind the twin room as a one night stop over.
I always enjoy staying at the Liner Hotel Liverpool 😃

Bedrooms could do with some tlc the decor looks very old and second lift still not working since last visit.
Location as it is close to where my daughters university accommodation is and staff are always polite and very helpful. The bar is also good and offers 2 for 1 on cocktails.

We had problems with the toilet flushing but it was taken care of in a timely manner.
The hotel was located next to a train station which was convenient. This is an older hotel but was clean and comfortable. We enjoyed the hotel. The staff was very friendly, courteous and helpful. We had a very pleasant stay here. I would stay again.

My toilet was faulty! I couldn't flush it. Eventually some nice maintenance girl fixed it.

On arrival, we mentioned having to leave early Monday for our train and had paid for breakfast. We were advised that a take out breakfast would be ordered ready. On checking out, no breakfast was there, and we had no time to go and get it ourselves. This meant purchasing food at the station. Otherwise all good
All staff members, reception/housekeeping/bar/restaurant polite, welcoming and helpful. Location good, especially closeness to the station 😀

Had an issue with no hot water in one morning. This has happened before to me at the Liner - obv a wider issue ?
