Just the gnocchi !

We needed somewhere to stay overnight after travelling to a funeral nearby. This looked the best option but our expectations were not high. So we were really surprised at how good the place was. The staff were friendly, professional and helpful. Everything about the Inn has been very carefully thought out. The place is comfortable, super decor with lots of thought clearly having gone in to the finishing touches. We like that the bedrooms are secured via a door code from the rest of the inn. Our room was a standard one but had everything we needed. The menu is good pub grub, service excellent. My partner had fish and chips, all well cooked. I made a mistake and chose gnocchi which was not good, but staff quickly took it away, and off our bill and asked me to choose something else. I didn’t but had a cheese plate instead which was a main meal in itself and excellent.

I was in a room (9) above the dining room and the thump of the music carries straight up. if you are an early to bed kind of person this can be an issue.

Very comfortable beds. this is an issue. I travel a lot and am increasingly finding hotels using harder mattresses because they last longer. The lion was a really nice exception. The staff were friendly and the food was good. Impressed

The Lion Inn never fails to disappoint, this is our second stay in the last 12 months and we will certainly be back. The room is beautifully decorated, bed is so comfortable and we noticed on both stays just how incredible the shower is. Breakfast options are perfect and everything I’ve had on the menu so far has exceeded my expectations. To summarise, you really feel as though everything has been thought of in the room. We were actually due to go out but got so relaxed in the room we just stayed in and had a well deserved night off from parenting. We can’t wait to come back! Thanks to the lovely staff for another lovely stay 😊

Car park was totally full by the time I arrived! Just squeezed somewhere in due to having a small car.

Staff member very friendly and helpful. I was on a work trip even though I had had a recent surgical operation and wasn't really fit to be out and about. Very sympathetic when I had suffered a slight post op complication. Would definitely return here. Room excellent.

The room we had was nos 23, There was no heating coming from the radiator in the bathroom,&where the large mirror is placed where there is no socket for straighteners, etc.In the bathroom the hot tap is loose needs fixing.The aerial to the TV was coming away & had to go to reception to see if it could be fixed but luckily the reception lady fixed it & didn't feel that I should touch it.These little things need addressing & then all will be good.These basic things should be sorted or checked on a regular basis. Personally not a fan of wet rooms but overall room and facilities top class

The visit was excellent and all the staff to be complimented on the welcome and service. Evening meal and breakfast were excellent.Very well stocked and run bar. In all a superb stay and if we are ever back in the area won't hesitate to book again. Thanks everyone involved it was a real pleasure.

noise from downstairs in the bedroom. hard to get to sleep and in the morning music very load again. went to breakfast and only three people sitting down with that music. I’m sure it could’ve been turned down especially in the morning
