Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThere was a bit of noise from some kind of generator or heat pump through the night, probably worse because we had the window open. May be a problem if you are sensitive to noise!
Lovely big room, comfortable beds, very clean and tastefully decorated. Breakfast was lovely, location perfect.

United KingdomThe breakfasts were adequate if not spectacular Was a little perturbed at first to find Covid type restrictions were still in place and the room would not be serviced, however this didn't spoil our stay. The Booking.com listing states this property didn't accept card payments and was cash only, this is incorrect I checked with the property before travelling and wa assured that cards were acceptrd. Also in the listing it states that there is no parking available at the Lobster, this is also incorrect there are a limited number of parking spaces available, unfortunately for me I only found this out after forking out for a weekly ticket at the local council car park.
We were expecting a room in the Pub, however we were accommodated in a family room which would sleep three in the Smugglers annexe to the rear. It was a very nice ground floor cottage style building with a shared private entrance hall with a front door leading out to the street. The room had a kettle, microwave oven and a fridge which was very useful The location couldn't have been better, close to the sea front and within easy walking distance many local eateries. The beer garden was pretty good as was the selection of beers.

United KingdomRoom could benefit from some minor maintenance, IE, sink taps had to be excessively turned off to stop water flow, net curtains at the window were sagging in the middle---required the stretchy wire to be shortened!! The toilet flush system did not always settle after use, sometimes needed to be gently pressed again to stop water flow! No real problems, but avoidable!
Breakfast, great. Location, fine. Room, OK.

United Kingdomrubbish bin wasnt emptied during our 4 day stay. drinks tray or toilet rolls weren't replenished we had to ask. Assume this was down to staff shortages? food menu mostly junk food burgers nuggets not much choice. However the menu seemed to be the same in all eateries in Sheringham. Wifi signal was poor in our room.
staff very helpful breakfasts excellent. parking available. room comfortable.

The room was spacious. Although above the pub, there was no noise in the room. Everything was provided in the room, any shortages being made up straight away. The hosts were very friendly and couldn't do enough to make our stay enjoyable. Breakfast was excellent and cooked to order.

United KingdomPub felt catered just for meals rather than just having a drink. No service on the lounge side of pub, had to go through to the other side to order drinks and food. Not sure about some of the windows being boarded rather than glass.
We were given rooms 15 and 16 which was in fact a cottage with two bedrooms - this met our need with two teenage sons and a dog as it allowed up to use the shared living area to keep the dog rather than bedrooms. Staff very friendly, breakfasts were great and food in evening good. Great that it was dog friendly!

United KingdomThis isn't the fault of the Lobster but there was a lot of late night (beyond midnight) noise coming from outside a close by pub.
The room was adjoining the pub rather than above the bars. The staff were friendly and it had a nice relaxed atmosphere. The location is good being in the town and very close to the sea front. The room was a decent size and had a good size shower room too.
