How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

I'm being picky as breakfast was really good but I prefer the faux meat sausages (quorn etc) to the mashed vegetable sausages
We'll definitely stay at Longboat on our next trip to Penzance. Great location and excellent value. All the staff were friendly and helpful. The breakfast is decent and filling, inc a veggie and vegan fry options. We didn't eat at night but they do nice real ale.

Not brilliant soundproofing between rooms. I awoke to the sound of several nearby residents urinating.

All very good, a lovely place lovely food, lovely staff. I would just wish that the walls weren’t so paperthin, so you could hear absolutely everything happening in the room next door, otherwise everything was perfect and I would be quite happy to stay there again.

Didn't enjoy the evening meal. Should have been grilled Hake but was poached and very watery. Veg were bland.Not cheap either. Staff, however, did apologise and we received a full refund. Also, £23 is too much for a bottle of wine.
Good location, excellent breakfast. Room good. Staff very helpful and friendly.

Great location, opposite station, Friendly staff. Clean, comfortable, quiet room and good breakfast. Parking is free nearby between 16.00 and 09.00.

The room was clearly designed by a man as, and this is a bugbear of mine, the power sockets were not by the dressing table, nor was there a mirror or lighting nearby. Blow drying my hair and doing my make up was difficult. There was no lift and I struggled to get my luggage up the stairs
A very small single room that was clean, warm and comfortable and breakfast was great. Thank you.

Can't think of anything.
Warm welcome, clean room, free wifi, excellent food in the dining room, excellent Cornish breakfast. Located right next to the railway station and at the bottom of the main high street and so near to everything. I've stayed in Penzance many times for both business and pleasure as a stepping stone for going to the Isles of Scilly. This stay was my first at the Longboat and it was right up there as one of the best places I've stayed.

Great location, friendly staff. I was lucky to have great weather whilst staying. The view from the upper lounge was great. Local to shops and museums. I really enjoyed the stay.

Evening imbar man was slightly off hand
Excellent breakfast, comfortable large room, independent of the pub if you wanted. We had a few drinks in the pub but were out and about so much we ate out. You could though easily eat in the pub if you so wished. Standard of breakfast food excellent.

No on-site car parking but car park about 200m away was very good value. Very small bathroom.

I couldn't find anything to moan about all in all a nice relaxing stay
Staying in a pub near the train station and some great real ale pubs was heaven for me it's also nice and quiet in the winter which l prefer the staff were also very friendly and helpful l will be back

The bed could have been a bit bigger and the bathroom was tired (stain in the toilet and a crack in the glazing in the sink, for example) But it was all clean, warm and comfortable!
The breakfasts were very good! Exceptional for the money!
