Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe tiny staircase up to the top floor, it was a bit difficult when carrying young kids.
It was easy to find, well located, clean and lovely inside. It was exactly as the pics show.

United KingdomNothing really, although I found the beds a bit hard and could maybe benefit from a topper as time goes on.
Loved this cottage, perfect for a short stay, well equipped and they have thought of everything. Dog friendly, they even provide treats. The location is perfect for town and beach. Bakers through the alley is perfect for breakfast and the pub on the beach, great for dogs. Parking is a real bonus and a must as it’s very expensive to park in town.

United KingdomThe location was fantastic. In a quiet street, but just a minute's walk to the high street. Couldn't have been better. The property itself was spotless and fresh and pretty with good facilities. The stairs are steep so probably not suitable for young children or the elderly, but this didn't worry us. Communication with the host was excellent - speedy replies and very accommodating. I would definitely stay here again.

United KingdomA few things that may help with the visit, an outside light at the front of the property, as it was very dark. Plus details of where to get more logs (we did find a garage that sold netted logs). Unfortunately there was no tea towel and the bins had not been emptied, we also had to use bleach to clean the tea stained mugs, not big issues but something to be aware of. Also we would have liked some champagne glass, as it was a birthday celebration weekend. Many thanks and we would definitely like to visit again.
Thank you for letting us stay at the lovely cottage. A great location and everything was amazing. Beds were comfy, a nice log fire and we liked the quirkiness of the cottage. Many thanks and we would definitely like to visit again.

United KingdomThe top floor stairs to the double bedroom (lovely room) may be difficult for some people as stairwell isnt full height for some like us (5’9 and 6’1) so should be born in mind if booking for more than two people, first floor bedroom is very nice.
Centrally located yet very quiet, compact and comfy and cosy. Well equipped with lovely little extras. Dog friendly. Great shower. Parking. We loved it.

United KingdomIf i had to be picky, the mattresses could have been better, but a topper is all that's needed. Plenty of bedding provided so managed to find a fix quickly. I am VERY mattress fussy!
Highly recommend the Lost Lobster! The perfect location, a lovely house, has all you need for a weekend or extended break. The Parking is invaluable, makes it so easy, we have a SUV and whilst tight, we had no issue reversing in. Lovely welcome pack and dog friendly. Very quiet street even on a BH weekend. Note: the stairs are quite steep, probably not suitable for those with mobility issues. We had no problems though. Don't hesitate, book today!

United KingdomNothing really but if I had to say something it would be the step stairs and small height leading to the top floor. I hit my head a few times coming downstairs and I’m only 5.3
I liked the location, the parking out front, the layout was very cosy and had all the home comforts you need.

United KingdomIt would be good to have a dishwasher. Very low ceiling height in the stair case to the top floor, but totally fine for kids, so if you are a family, I would recommend having the first floor made up as a superking, and letting your kids share the double on the top floor (assuming the kids are young enough to share). The down side of course is if a child needs the loo during the night, they would have to negotiate very steep stairs. Very difficult to get in and out of the parking space at the front of the property, as the house opposite parked their car (Tesla) sticking right out into the road (probably because their parking space is like a beach, which you would get stuck in if you reversed your car further back into it!). Possibly worth talking to the opposite neighbour to try to resolve this, unless this is a holiday let too, and this was just thoughtless parking by a guest not wanting to get stuck. Plug points in first floor bedroom are behind the beds, so you have to move the beds to use them (to plug your phone in to charge overnight).
Very comfortable little cottage. The wood burner in the lounge works a treat. Exceptionally responsive and helpful host/owner.
