Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

The quality and standard of my room , bedding and products was really excellent. Lovely comfortable bed and everything spotlessly clean. Decor and furnishings of my room were lovely, with the cute bears popping up in various guises. ie pictures , coasters doorknobs, and best of all the towel art ! Staff were very helpful and friendly. Breakfast was delicious with a good choice. Would thoroughly recommend a stay here , and if I visit Christchurch again will definitely be re booking.

United KingdomNothing!
Beautifully decorated room. We had a family room for extra space. The rooms allow dogs and I was a bit apprehensive it’d smell “doggy” but it didn’t at all and was spotlessly clean. Lovely touches in the room, chocolates, fresh milk in the fridge, coffee machine. Lovely toiletries in the bathroom. They offered 2 free G&T’s too if we’d like them! The breakfast menu was extensive and was delicious. The outside seating area was very extensive with “under cover” options if it rained! Plenty of parking. Staff were very helpful and friendly!

if you are thinking of staying here, do not hesitate! The Bear exceeded expectations and delivered thar little bit extra. Location was gorgeous, perfect for a visit to the beach and the forest. We very much enjoyed our complimentary gin & tonic outside in the garden listening to the birds in the evening. We were outside again for the included breakfast, which was an excellent full English- and I am somewhat of a connoisseur! The room was fantastic, great size and beautifully put together. We will be hoping to return in the near future!

United KingdomThe room was located on the 1st floor which initially proved a little awkward 4 our dogs as they are not used to stairs. However after a little encouragement they managed them. This may need to be given consideration if you have a senior dog with you that suffers with stiff or arthritic joints.
We stayed at the Bear of Burton for 2 nights. We took along 2 labradors and were put up in a very spacious, clean & comfortable room. We took our own dog bowls, bedding & food but a water bowl, treats & 2 dog toys, that we were allowed to keep, were provided for our fur babies on arrival which was a welcome surprise. This hotel is very dog friendly. We were free to go almost anywhere in the hotel with the dogs & the staff are obviously dog lovers. The cooked breakfasts & the evening meal we had were fabulous. The property is located on the edge of a peaceful village in countryside but is in easy reach of Christchurch & Mudeford Quay by car. We would highly recommend The Bear at Burton.

United KingdomStaff were talking loudly in restaurant/bar area to each about their personal lives and swearing so not very professional even if it was quiet. Not able to swap the free gin and tonic for something my partner likes was a shame as last time we stayed this was allowed. They said it was a cost thing so would have been good to get offered the price difference. However, they would have allowed me to have both the drinks if it wasnt so late when we arrived which is not their fault. I would hope if someone doesn't drink they would be able to swap it for non alcoholic beverage instead as it is a nice touch for a stay that you don't expect and we had forgotten about. Food menu for dinner a bit limited and unexpiring. There was a good set meal deal offer we thought until we found there was not much on the menu that the offer included. We went somewhere else for dinner in the end but I am sure if we ate there the food would have tasted good and been presented well like their breakfast.
The room was their cheapest option, but comes with things you would expect for a luxury option. Slippers and dressing gowns, coffee pod machine with pods and coffee bags. A fridge with bottle of tap water and real milk not uht. Nice furniture and themed bear rooms. Large towels. His and hers sink. Waterfall shower separate to bath. Dark blackout curtains. You also get a free gin and tonic voucher for each person in the room which is nice touch. Hot Breakfast options really good and look and taste great. Cold options available also nice but bowls for cereal a tad on the small size. Free juice and coffee also offered within the price for breakfast. Free parking and nice indoor and outdoor seating areas

The Bear at Burton is fabulous. We loved the communal areas that were chic and relaxed with areas where you could enjoy the company of friends and also areas such as the library where you could chill, read the papers etc. The decor is cheerful, colourful and smart throughout. The manager and her staff were wonderful, courteous and extremely helpful. We were a group of 11 and everyone loved their bedrooms. A big thank you to Tania and her team.
