How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Very small room,booked on booking.com said we could get in from 11,when arrived at 12.15 had to pay an additional £20 to get in at that time,we had no choice as we had a party so needed to get changed,so there charged us £20 for 15 mins

The room was small but I picked it so next time I'll get a double room.
The folk who run this hotel Leon and Christine absolutely make this hotel. Lovely friendly really helpful people. Lovely hotel in a great location with the added bonus of a good breakfast served quickly and very well organised. Room was small but I was only there one night and really just used to get my head down. Nice wee hotel for not a lot of money and with free parking although tight was great. Don't worry about it though Leon will be there to keep you right with the parking.

Leon and Christine are amazing and can't do enough for you they are great fun fantastic couple and a fantastic hotel spotless absolutely beautiful the breakfast was lovely too Leon even came out and helped us with a car parking space they are so friendly and extremely helpful love them and will be back very soon 😀

Top bunk mattress could be doing with replacing. All other beds very comfy.
Room, bathroom & dining area clean and tidy. Lovely breakfast in morning. Great location. Owner helped us get parked up outside hotel FOC.

The bed was a little uncomfortable but nothing too bad. I’m over 6ft and so couldn’t fully lay down on the bed so kept waking up during the night when I stretched as I kept kicking it. Not b and bs fault though!

Booked here as an overnight stay on our way to Scotland. Despite us arriving a lot later than planned, Leon was waiting ready to greet us and very kindly parked our car for us. Christine greeted us at reception and immediately made us feel at home. Perfect location, down to earth and friendly hosts and absolutely banging breakfast. Nothing was too much bother. Will definitely rebook next time we're travelling through. Thank you both for a lovely stay 😊

Owners were wonderful, room was comfortable and clean and breakfast was very tasty. We stayed for 2 nights as a midweek break it was perfect for a couple wanting to get away, we highly recommend the marsden and hope to visit again soon

Owners were extremely nice and friendly! Responsive and always ready to help. Room was very clean. Room and bathroom were a bit small but comfortable enough for short stays. It had all necesseties so overall definitely a good value for money.

Nothing really. Carpark at the rear is very tight but everyone managed when we stayed and the Leon was always on hand helping guests park plus offering to drive in and out if you didn't feel comfortable. So parking was not an issue at all and car we're secure and off the street.
Super friendly owner's couldn't do enough for us.

Christine and Leon were both exceptional hosts. They were super friendly and a lovely, genuine couple. Happy to help in anyway they can. We arrived early and were given a parking spot as well as the keys. Even though still required to not go into the room until check-in time this was a massive help as it allowed to us to go about our day without having to worry about parking. We had a great night's sleep in a comfortable clean room with everything we needed. The beds were top quality and all bed linen was as good quality as any top hotel you would stay in. The breakfast was perfect, with everything you would expect. Everything tasted great. Everything you could ask from the moment we got there. Thank you Christine and Leon. We would highly recommend to anyone and would be more than happy to come back again.
