Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomCleaning needed a top up (dusty) but this was quickly rectified by the owners’ son. Bathroom smells from drains. Sofa a little uncomfortable (needed more cushions). Milk for tea would have been a thoughtful addition after a 4 hour journey. The guest guide needed an update.
Location at top of hill close to the Cathedral (less hills). Spacious apartment with parking outside gate at the weekend. Comfortable bed, clean bedding. Lovely views across the town and countryside. Easy to find. Lovely cleaning lady. Helpful owners on hand when needed to iron out any issues.

United KingdomWe were surprised that we were not provided with recycling bins for glass, plastic, paper, card in apartment 1. We spotted a lot of spider webs on the ceiling in the lounge in apartment 1. There were quite a few ladybirds in the lounge in apartment 1. In the kitchen, the space in the top part of the freezer was limited because of the amount of ice in it. This was quite inconvenient for us ...found myself trying to scrape the ice to make more room for food that I had brought for the weekend. In addition, we could not make use of the kitchen scales which needed a new battery. We would have liked more plates, (large, small) glasses and cutlery ..
We liked the location within walking distance of the cathedral and the city centre. The rooms in apartment 1and 4 were comfortable, airy and spacious.. We liked the large vestibule and windows in both apartments 1 & 4. Three was plenty of cupboards space in the kitchens in both flats 1 & 4 which was very convenient.

This was our second time staying at The Lincoln Apartments as we were so impressed the first time. It didn't disappoint,. It was just as clean, bright, spacious and luxurious as we remembered and it was very well positioned for The Castle, The Cathedral and getting into town. I've said it before but it feels like a home from home. If you're wondering whether to book it, don't hesitate, just do it because you won't regret it.

United KingdomWe were not aware of all the steps and the steepness of these from the booking.com app. Settees were not the most comfiest. Booking.com said parking yet this was on street parking and not part of the apartment. One final point a drop of milk in the apartment on entry would have been a nice touch as we had to go out and get some. These are not huge issues just some constructive feedback. We had a wonderful 2 days.
Apartment was lovely in a fantastic location. We'll equipped and nicely decorated etc.

United KingdomThe property was fab, there are parking time restrictions outside and around the property, make sure you read the signs before leaving your car, we were always able to park so not a big problem
The property was in a lovely part of Lincoln, the town centre, cathedral and castle are all walkable. The apartments are in a big old property. We were in apartment 2 on the first floor, which was very spacious, with high ceilings, the shower was excellent.

United KingdomStated there would be a welcome pack but this never arrived even after enquiring. Toilet seat in en-suite was very loose! Sign required on garage door as the parking space was taken up by a contractor. The handrail into the property is dangerous as the fixings were loose and it came away when handled.
Location and proximity was very good. Layout of the apartment was great for two couples. Good selection of equipment and utensils. Heating included. Comfortable beds and good quality linen. Good sized bedrooms with en-suites.

United Kingdomthere was nothing to dislike, We turned the radiator off in the small hall way as it was near the thermostat for the whole flat, so the heating was constant.
the location for convivence of old upper Lincoln and the town was excellent, the flat was spacious and characterful the bus from town was one stop and only cost £2 each, we went in half term. I Would imagine there to be a lot more activity during the day as it is next to the secondary school.

United KingdomWe liked everything about the apartment, but the only thing I had concerns about was that there was no information regarding fire safety/fire escape routes. I thought there would have been a bit of signage around and some instructions about ways out in the event of emergency - perhaps some door closers - but there wasn't anything.
It was a self-catering apartment, so no breakfast was provided, but we couldn't fault the location; it was historic and tucked away down a one-way street. The cathedral was minutes' away on-foot, so very central and great for our needs.
