What may have been overall a marvellous stay was marred by the small and cramped bedroom layout.

    • Standard King Room
    • Stayed 1 night

The room was very cramped. A bathroom seemed to have been placed in a bedroom and with a normal double bed left very little room on either side so accessing the bed need to be agile. That may suit walkers on South Downs Trail for whom any bed would do, but for tourists to enjoy weekend room seemed quite cramped.

The hotel was fine, well placed and had facilities required

Arrived dusty and dry after cycling across the south downs and greeted by friendly efficient staff. Check in and secure bike storage was quickly and efficiently completed allowing us to get scrubbed up before dinner. After a day eating energy bars the exception food in the restaurant was very much welcomed and delicious. The best steak and ale pie I have ever had I think. Very much recomended.

Slightly quirky room with open plan bathroom (no door on the toilet) but cannot fault The Nest, we will revisit!

A friendly pub with lovely rooms. We loved the atmosphere in the restaurant, excellent food, and very good options for gluten-free, which was so appreciated! Extensive wine list, quality cocktails and attentive service.

There was nothing to dislike - apart from no internet signal or phone signal but that was made with them having WiFi

Very quirky, and a lovely location. The room was well presented and the staff were lovely. We had a meal the night we arrived and the food was great, definitely recommend their pork scratching.! Breakfast the following morning, was lovely and a great selection.

One tiny thing....The Toilet paper in room seemed to be very cheap which was strange as every thing seemed to be luxurious, like the complimentary toiletries and the coffee and tea.

Lovely friendly warm welcome. The owner and Emily were exceptionally helpful and nothing felt too much. Peacock room was comfortable and had a sense of luxury. Had dinner which was delicious and breakfast equally so.

    Nothing...everything was excellent.

Everything in this hotel was excellent from the decor, the service, the food, the bedroom and the atmosphere. We attended a family event for a 60th wedding anniversary and the staff could not have been more helpful. They accommodated the decoration requests, the menu requests and helped make us feel very welcome. Nothing was a bother to them. The rooms were clean, very tastefully decorated and the bed very comfortable. Breakfast was excellent, we chose to pay the extra for a cooked breakfast but it was well worth it. We would certainly have no hesitation in recommending this hotel or visiting again.

Bathroom in our room was very small, only shower was attached to bath taps and we booked b & b, only to be told on leaving that we owed for breakfast as only continental was including(, not told that when ordering breakfast) so thought that a bit deceptive but would have upgraded anyway as food excellent

Excellent food, nice location , attentive staff and nice rooms

It would be nice to have a shower attachment on the bath. Though a jug was provided it can be a bit difficult washing hair that's quite thick this way

Had a lovely Saturday night stay at the Nest. Love the fact that all the rooms are named after birds. Our room Wren was right at the top of the building. This did mean that due to us arriving in the early September heatwave the room was extremely hot. A fan was provided. Though we opened the skylights immediately it was a very hot night. We were leaving before breakfast would be served and we received a breakfast bag which was a nice touch. Mattress was slightly softer than we were used to and we did miss the shower (bath only) though I did enjoy my soak in the bath. I had been emailed about booking a table in the restaurant for dinner but we decided to venture out elsewhere which was the right thing to do as the restaurant was fully booked

Our bedroom was very small and only had windows in the roof, which I found oppressive. An amusing feature was that when I got out of bed the TV came on. The TV switched on with the slightest touch.

The staff were very welcoming and helpful. We were walking the South Downs Way and the sole had come off one of our boots and they very kindly glued it back on. The food was nice and breakfast was good.
