Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomLittle things that need attention. 1. Broken window handles meaning it was difficult to close the windows at night or when going out. 2. The induction hob was very temperamental. Couldn’t always get it to work when needed. 3. Broken bedside table in master bedroom such that it could only be propped up against the wall. 4. Out of date or no PAT testing of appliances. 5. Dripping tap in kitchen.
The property was spacious and ideal for a family.

AustraliaWe stayed 2 nights but would have loved to stay longer but didn't have time. When the beds are split for singles they are quite narrow. Be aware that there is limited mobile service, so download the parking instructions and door code before you get there.
Lovely place to stay. Big warm cottage with plenty of space and a quiet village with friendly people. Good kitchen and cozy sitting room. Great relaxing stay.

United KingdomThe only problem we found was that there were no open spaces or parks nearby to walk our two dogs.
The Nook is a great place to stay! Marie, our hostess, was welcoming and very accommodating. The cottage was clean, spacious and well equipped. The location is great, only a 5 minute drive from Cheddar. We would stay here again.

United KingdomThe Nook is a fabulous cottage with loads of character - the inglenook fireplace is just lovely for a winter break. Two minute walk to very friendly local pub a bonus. Parking for one car at the owner's house opposite very convenient - as the roads are extremely narrow and it's difficult to park a second car, we parked our friends' car opposite the pub about 200m down the road. Bedrooms and bathrooms very nice/comfortable/clean and kitchen/diner and dining room great for a break with friends. Host was very helpful and the arrival pack was also very thoughtful and well received!

United KingdomThere wasn’t much outside space but that didn’t bother us.
Loved the traditional feel of the house and that it was clean and well equipped. Very comfy beds with plenty of spare blankets. Easy to get to lots of places and a lovely place to return to at the end of the day.

United KingdomI was shocked to find that the cottage only had one parking place as it provides for at least 6 people. We were 3 friends who live in different parts of the country so it would have been a problem if we'd all come in our own cars. I slept on a bunk bed, which was VERY creaky and had a thin mattress. The room was small room with no curtain at the window and no mirror. The pillows in all the rooms were hard. The kitchen was fine but not very well equipped. We could have done with a tea pot, a cafetiere and a salad bowl. The modern en-suite shower would only be for very slender people as the wide door opened inwards and so was difficult to squeeze around. It would be useful to have a printed information book as well as the electronic one as I didn't find it until we were leaving. I had so many emails from Booking.com that it was lost amongst them.
The welcome pack was good with a bottle of local wine. The 2 main beds were large and comfortable (apart from the pillows). The large bathroom was excellent with a walk-in shower and a bath. The dining table was good as it was away from the kitchen and a good size, there were only 3 of us though. The location was beautiful, a peaceful little village with easy access to Wells, which was our reason for being there. We wanted to be able to see our friend, whose husband was poorly, without having to impose on her hospitality. There was a small patio with good garden furniture.

United KingdomIt saddened me that the courtyard gardens were unkempt. With a few hours work they could both be little oasis especially. The shower stall in the master was extremely uncomfortable to get in and out of it like me you are not a skinny mini , a bifold door would suit in such a limited space. The mattress on the lower bunk bed was very uncomfortable and far to soft , the bed felt it was leaning slightly.
I loved the location and the thick walls kept it cool inside. Loved the local shop literally a minute stroll. There were plenty of towels and the rooms were great.

United KingdomWe have just returned from a 3 night stay at the Nook, which was wonderful! Great location very close to Cheddar and Wells and in the heart of the village. The small convenience store close by was very handy too. Marie was so helpful and there was a welcome basket of goodies waiting for us on arrival. The cottage was spotless and the beds super comfy. All in all a fabulous place and we can't wait to go back again!

United KingdomThere was nothing we didn't like but I think we all found the mattresses & pillows a bit harder than we're used to at home. It might be useful to have a folder of places to visit etc. I know there is the internet but it can be difficult to know where to start!
The cottage was charming & in a lovely location. It was exceptionally clean and beautifully presented. It was also near to family so we were able to spend some quality time with them too. We would be happy to stay again!

United Kingdomnothing at all.
The Nook was the most adorable and quaint little cottage. It has been decorated in a rustic and welcoming manner. We decided to take a last minute trip to Cheddar and luckily we managed to book the Nook. Marie, the owner, lives in the cottage opposite and was so kind and helpful and very easily contactable via email. The property had all the facilities you might need for a short break, with a fully equipped and functional kitchen and games for the kids as well as a small patio area for outside meals or relaxation. Cheddar Gorge is less than 10 minutes drive away and plenty of beautiful hikes surrounding the area.
