Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThere wasn't anything we didn't like. If anything maybe a hook or towel ring in the WC as there was nowhere to hang a towel for drying your hands.
Clean, comfortable. Great facilities, first cottage we've stayed in that had TV's in all the bedrooms! 2 minute walk to shops, good sized enclosed garden for dogs. 2 bikes for our use.

United KingdomAbsolutely nothing!
Everything is perfect in The Nook. We had a little problem with the heating the first night, a quick text exchange with the owners and it was sorted out. We can’t fault this smashing house. Immaculately clean, perfectly equipped, great location, huge fully enclosed garden, safe for dogs and kids, with woods on 2 sides, very quiet and peaceful, woke up to lovely birdsong every morning. We’ll definitely stay again.

AustraliaOutside clothes drying line is difficult in bad weather so have to get creative inside and hang a few items up, the heated towel rack helps.
Beautiful cottage with pretty much everything a family or group will need for a great stay. Cottage bikes are a great touch for older kids or for adults to see some local sights. Nice big kitchen and living space and plenty of room in bedrooms.

House is in an ideal location and has many lovely walks, both short or as long as you want to make them. Bikes were a great surprise and enjoyed. Beds and living area very comfortable for our group of 5 (3 adults and 2 children). Kitchen has all facilities and utensils that you need and everything is provided for. Hosts were quick to respond to any queries. Would highly recommend and will definitely be back

United KingdomWe dont have anything negative to say about the property.
The Nook is a lovely well equipped cottage. Its in a quiet location but the town centre is within walking distance or a short drive. We had our dogs with us and the garden was safe and secure and there was plenty of space for them to run around. The owners were very helpful and responded quickly to any messages. We had a great stay at the Nook and would definitely recommend it.

United KingdomThe layout of the property was terrific, and the facilities were excellent. The beds were very comfortable, and the shower and bath worked very well. The cooking facilities and utensils were ample with a nice dining table. The location was perfect and just 20 minutes walk from the centre of Aviemore. We found it perfect for Cycling and mountaineering in the Cairngorms.

United KingdomOnly thing was distance from main town area but we don’t mind a walk. Much rather have the quiet cul de sac than the noise of the centre
We enjoyed every minute of staying there and the house was beautiful. Appointed very well and super clean.

United KingdomMy wife and I are elderly and found it difficult getting in and out of the bath/ shower. Also a shower mat would be of benefit as I found it quite slippy after my shower.
House clean, tidy, and cosy. Had everything that we needed. Certainly, I would recommend this place for a pleasant stay. Had a slight problem connecting to the Internet, but after contact, this was quickly resolved.

United KingdomWe really can't fault this property in any way.
This is a great holiday let property in a very quiet location. Everything was just perfect. After a quick telephone call to Helen and Gregor to say we'd arrived, we had no further need to contact them and they left us to enjoy the holiday. We're in the process of setting up a short term let property of our own back home and we will be using this property as a model example to guide us.
