If you like a constant barking of dogs...this place is for you.

THE BARKING OF DOGS next door spoiled my entire stay in this hotel!!! I love dogs but I felt there like living next to the DOG KENNEL. Every time I moved in my room, going to the bathroom or when I was going out or coming back the dogs were barking - absolute nightmare!!!! It looks like the dogs were there closed in this room like in a prison. Another thing which was really annoying is the people sitting on the door steps in front of the doorway...there are 2 red benches but nobody sits on them but they (staff and residents) have to sit and smoke on the doorsteps. How people were supposed to get in and out of the hotel - jump over them??? Sit on those lovely red benches please. There was not even a kettle, tea, coffee etc. in my room.

    - very good price - good location: close to the train station and Blackpool North attractions

I did not have tea or coffee facilities in the room, which was disappointing, however they did have a communal tea and coffee facilities down stairs.

The north star is a basic hotel but clean and close to the train station. I did not have breakfast with my stay but I was told its s good breakfast from other guests. My room was very spacious and a nice on suite bathroom.

It was alright really, I guess at a push I would say the bedding is very thin and it could do with a new bed base and curtains as there was stains but we all have them on our own beds so I'm not going to scrutinise them for that. I'd definitely stay again

Cheap room 2 mins from town, double bed and a bathroom of your own with shower and fully stocked toilet rolls unlike many hotels. Had to phone to get checked in, person arrived instantly, nice person

Didn’t like: not being greeted to our room just handed key, brown drill dust covering all the skirting boards, carpets not hoovered, bits all over our feet, walls damp, toilet roll on window sill window was open so toilet roll was soaking wet and muddy, bed rock hard, no bin in the room, no bin in the bathroom, bathroom flooring is on a slant so you feel like your walking wonky, shelving units in room were all covered in dust, we had to use makeup freshen wipes, we had to wipe all surfaces and sides down ourselves. We were very itchy in the night and felt we kept being bitten. We have been covered in bite marks since coming home. Please see picture. We were that fed up check out is normally 11am which we usually stay too but we left at 8am, couldn’t wait to get home.

Likes: location, b&b is near all the Blackpool gay friendly bars me and my girlfriend like visiting aswell as being close to the other main bars. It’s been redecorated outside it’s now black and red in colour looks smart. Shower was warm, towels were white and felt clean.

The problem is the lack of cleaning. My room had obviously not been dusted or hoovered for a while, and there was a half drunk can of cider on the bedside table. I took it downstairs and gave it to the manager, who added it to the collection of rubbish in the shared lounge, where it still was when I left three days later. The walls had stains from water leaks and what looked suspiciously like vomit. I acquired a lot of red bite marks all over my body which must be from either the bed or the chair. The door was extremely difficult to lock and unlock, so much so that I gave up and went out leaving the door unlocked. Nothing was touched, thankfully, but it meant I couldn't relax properly when I was out. The whole situation is frustrating to me because this hotel has all the basics in place to be really nice, but it's been badly neglected and the manager doesn't seem very interested.

The price I paid was very cheap for a weekend and the room was a good size, with an armchair and plenty of hanging space. The shower worked properly and the bathroom had a window, which was nice. The wifi was good. There's a place to make your own tea and coffee downstairs (no kettle in the room).

The staff were extremely unprofessional. I arrived after 3pm ( the stated check in time), rang the door bell and waited over 5 mins for anyone to open the door. The guy who did open it was wearing socks and underpants only. He was on his phone and didn't say anything to me (eg welcome / are you checking in?). Eventually another guy came down the stairs with my room key. I went out in the early evening and when I went back to the hotel my key didn't work in the lock. I rang the door bell again and the same thing happened! The semi naked guy simply shrugged when I said that my key hadn't worked. I decided to leave that evening as I didn't want to risk getting stuck outside all night if I went out again. Looking at other reviews it seems that other people have had this problem! I definitely won't return again.

I've stayed at Northern Star before and it was OK then...
