Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomPerfect stay. We were attending a wedding nearby & before we’d even arrived we were helped with information on taxis etc. When we were greeted we were shown the facilities & were surprised at how much was complimentary. There are delicious cordials, crisps, chocolate & homemade cake, which was perfect when we got back after the wedding & felt a little “jaded”. We also had a recommendation of The Boat (within walking distance) for a light bite which was lovely. The room was so well equipped & the bed large & comfy. Breakfast was served to the room in a hamper & was plentiful. Before we left we had a lovely stroll along the canal. Loved it so much we’ve already booked to come back & stay longer.

United KingdomGreat location near the canal and excellent communication and service from Elaine Nadia and Carol. Fabulous continental breakfast hamper and such a comfortable bed. I stayed in Willow. The Boat Inn (a traditional canal pub) and the waterways museum are a two minute walk away.

United KingdomWe stayed for just one night in the Wisteria Suite as a stopover on our long-distance walk along the Grand Union Canal. It was wonderful. Everything about this place is generous, from the warm welcome, the size of the room, the enormous bed and the array of complimentary snacks and treats - even milk and soft drinks in the fridge. No plastic thimble-sized pots of UHT milk here! As we were travelling very light, I really appreciated the thoughtful details such as the magnifying mirror in the bathroom. The breakfast hamper was also a treat, and what we couldn't manage for breakfast became our packed lunch for the walk ahead. The Old Chapel is perfectly situated, less than 100m from the canal, and only a few steps more away from two pubs and an Indian Restaurant. Perfect!

Had a lovely one night stay in this outstanding boutique B&B ! There was a warm welcome from one of the owners and a gorgeous tray of complementary treats in our room . The room was cosy and beautifully furnished and styled. We walked to a nearby pub for evening meal along the canal and also enjoyed the delicious breakfast hamper delivered to our room the next morning . Would recommend and planning to return in the warmer weather to enjoy the surrounding countryside .

United KingdomI was a bit disappointed with the continental breakfast. It was lovely to receive a picnic basket packed with breakfast, but the croissant/pastries were not particularly fresh and with no means of heating them up they were pretty unappealing.

United StatesThere can be no critique of perfection.
From first contact with Eileen, through our entire stay, we couldn’t have asked for more. The place is incredible, as well as the service and care that is given by Eileen. Really cannot say enough to show how spectacular this B&B is. Comfortable bed and accommodations with every little detail thought of. Incredible breakfast delivered in picnic basket. Really, there’s nothing that is not done exceptionally. Of all the places we stayed over the course of a week, this was heads above everything else. We were pampered beyond our expectations.

Absolutely amazing stay. Room was fantastic and way above what I had expected. Fantastic range of tea/coffee/drinks/snack selection upon arrival with a gorgeous breakfast the following day. I really appreciated the accommodation of delivering breakfast a little early as well - made such a difference to my day! Really welcoming owners who took care to explain everything. All facilities fantastic - wish I could have stayed longer!

Absolutely beautiful B&B. We were doing a charity walk and had complicated logistics. The owner was so helpful in allowing us to drop off our luggage and check in early. She also very kindly gave us an upgrade. Perfect location, right on the canal, with multiple options for dinner close by. The room itself was gorgeous with everything you might possibly want or need. We've never stayed in a room with so many goodies provided. There was a fridge in the hallway with soft drinks and milk, as well as a selection of alcoholic drinks that you could purchase. In the morning a breakfast hamper was left outside the room, with a huge selection of breakfast items, which we were able to enjoy, sitting on the patio in the late Autumn sunshine.. A wonderful stay, we'd love to return

United KingdomBreakfast was very cereal driven and I hate cereals, also the salmon and cream cheese roll at 7am was a bit too potent for me at that time of the day lol
I'd previously stayed at this accommodation back in 2019 and I'm pleased to say it was just as wonderful as I remembered it!! How lovely to be treated to homemade cookie and brownies on arrival, have to say this is a really nice touch after a long day at work and tasted amazing with a nice brew (and with real fresh milk from the fridge none of that synthetic rubbish here)... Room and bed are huge compared to most hotels, whilst still being warm and cosy, room and bathroom were spotless which is also a bonus to some establishments. Really nice touches throughout which really do make the difference!! Only downer, there was no guide to which coffee pods were which - first world problems lol (took a guess, just needed that hit of coffee first thing heaven forbid I should choose decaf). I ate at The Boat Inn located 2 minutes away, nice atmosphere and not too intimidating for a lone female to dine, they do a great Fillet Steak and I would definitely recommend eating here...

United KingdomThe "deluxe" breakfast hamper left outside your room is a good idea. There are cereals, juice, yoghurts and a selection of cold pastries (the type you might get from Tesco bakery or Greggs). I'd have preferred the option to chose your items the night before, vegetarians/ vegans might be put off by the cold Cheese & Bacon pastry that is included in the hamper. A toaster and fresh bread might work better.
Easy communication and a warm welcome when we arrived. Well appointed and spacious room with a lot of character. Superb shower. Access to garden is a bonus. Netflix on TV. Liked the provision of drinks and option to purchase local beer/ gins if wanted. Good location, short walk to canal and canal side pubs (& an Indian restaurant). Further choice of places to eat nearby (The Plough at Shutlanger is recommended).

United StatesAbsolutely nothing. Everything was not only exceptional, but we will consider returning and staying longer in this sweet canal village, just for the pleasure of more time at the Old Chapel Boutique B and B.
The charm of the Old Chapel reimagined as the most thoughtful and charming environment with truly everything you could imagine and some things you couldn't, like the gourmet deluxe hamper breakfast! The location with a secret patio garden access to the canal walking path. Well stocked complimentary beverages. A welcome fruitbowl that looked like a still life masterpiece was fresh and delicious. Did I mention the welcome box of gourmet cookies and brownies? The bathroom was plush white towels and washcloths. Excellent TV connection to Netflix. Welcoming hostess who oriented us to outdoor activity paths and town services.

United KingdomParking is tight for a large car but we were a group of 4 with 2 large cars and we managed.
Beautiful with lots of little added extras. Breakfast presented in a beautiful hamper containing a varied continental breakfast. There is no hot breakfast but you don’t miss it. Hamper includes cereals, pastries, croissants fruit, yoghurt and big variety of teas coffees etc. fresh milk and juice with lots more in open fridge outside bedroom door. Welcome fruit bowl in room with homemade cookies and muffins. Spacious room everything you need. Wide variety of honesty box drinks available from fruit juices and mixers to gins beers champagne and much more. Very close to the locks of Stoke Bruerne with canal side pubs and restaurant. United KingdomThis B&B (and owners) are quite honestly the best we have ever experienced. The attention to detail in the rooms, the extras on offer in the main hallway, AS WELL AS the delightful breakfast hampers that seem to appear by our doors each morning magically. The location is just idyllic positioned just near the canal with 3 options of places to eat. Not only would we give our stay 11 out of 10, and 6 out of 5 stars, but we will be back again… and again and again! See you next time Elaine & Nadia

Very quaint and beautifully well done. Lovely comfortable bed, complimentary treats, even had an honesty bar. Perfect location only a couple of minutes walk to the Grand Union Canal with a choice of 2 pubs and an Indian restaurant, lovely area and our hosts Elaine & Carol were very welcoming. Luxury breakfast hampers were really good quality products though my hubby does like a cooked breakfast. Would definitely stay there again.
