A pre-Wedding Party took precedence .... understandable from an economic point of view but it would have been good to have known prior--- after all it was a Thursday night in April not a weekend in Summer. A Free drink was offered freely as compensation for the slow service in the a la carte restaurant... which was appreciated. We believed the Premium hotel indicated 'no small children' ....There were a number in the pre-wedding party that were quite naturally noisy & although the party were separated by a screen it was not conducive to a 'fine dining' experience. There are no lifts & the best rooms are on the 2nd floor. ( Staff did offer to carry cases.) The selection of 'malt whisky' was very poor ( limited to one bottle which was a 'most peaty' type) Setting up for breakfast in the dining room before the a la carte dining was finished...it felt like being pushed out.

Grounds & cleanliness immaculate with a lot of thought. Staff very courteous. Excellent views. The location was excellent.

Only issue was a disappointing lukewarm shower which - despite much adjustment- would not get hot! Large bath was however suitable compensation.

Superb location, immaculate gardens and well appointed rooms with great views. Excellent breakfast / dinner in the Orangery dining room.

the locked gate to estate; we didn’t get notice that gate was locked and doors of hall locked- we thought that our booking had gone wrong.

it was beautiful setting with great hard scape. nice balcony in rm overlooking garden.

The car park was either under development or was being renewed and was a bit rutted and uneven and was a little walk to the main entrance which was situated at the opposite end of the hotel.

Beautiful building/grounds and the staff were all lovely, helpful and polite.

The building is outstanding, steeped in history and the Staff made you feel very welcome.

The reception was in an office and you had to knock on the door to see someone. (There was a prompt response though). There isn't an a la Carte service in the evening Monday and Tuesday so you have to go to Ely. This wasn't a problem but required a taxi. Not many restaurants in Ely are open either. (Would recommend Poets House).

Fabulous location and wonderful old property beautifully renovated in keeping with the historic era. Our room was an excellent size with a stylish bathroom. Views from the back bedroom windows onto the ponds and gardens. The terrace was located at the back and had a stunning view of the Cathedral. The gardens are really well landscaped and exceptionally planted and maintained.

The late check in, while not a problem, was quite late (4.30pm). It would have been good to have 3pm.

The venue was amazing, nothing was too much trouble. The bed was one of the most comfortable I've slept on and the breakfast was very good.

The quality of the breakfast did not meet our expectations, as portions were limited, as was variety. The bathroom pipes were noisy and some toiletries were not provided such as toothpaste.

Beautiful property with lovely grounds. The location is ideal for a weekend away. The room was very spacious with a large bathroom. Overall very cozy. Desk, restaurant and cleaning staff were friendly throughout our stay. Dinner at the property restaurant was tasty.

Everything, spectacular attention to detail second to none. I wish I stayed longer. Home made carrot cake on arrival was lovely and dinner was amazing, this hotel really is a secret you don't want to miss.

Beautifully furnished and maintained. Luxurious, warm resident lounges and bar with open fires and atmospheric lighting. Wonderful staff and excellent food in the fantastic spacious restaurant . Made to feel valued as a guest with a personal welcome on arrival.

this is a beautiful hotel. we stayed Christmas week and it was so festive and warming. the grounds are incredible and the staff were lovely, great breakfast too!
