Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomMatress needs replacing and we had one pillow which was too soft and the other too big and hard. Not the most comfortable nights sleep because of this.
Location was excellent. Food was lovely and building really pretty. Rooms were big.

United KingdomThe only thing was the scaffolding but understand there is some work need to be done from outside.
Our apartment was so nice, clean we had room on each story which created privacy for everyone. Location is great, literally straight in the centre! My daughter didn’t want to leave. The breakfast was really nice and all stuff were lovely.

United KingdomWe had the Annexe. It is a really nice setup .Unfortunately, there was still some building work going on. The views had been blocked with the scaffolding, and it was noisy during the day .This is the one and only thing we did not like . Ashton listened to us and sorted out our complaint, and we are happy with the outcome . Thankyou
Staff lovely. Pub great .Stayed in the Annexe, we were family of four very comfortable and housekeeping was really good . Had a parking permit, which was fab . Breakfast is great and recommended, and the location is just the best ever. Would I book again? Yes, definitely. It's a lovely place to visit.

United KingdomNothing at alll would have made our stay anymore enjoyable no complaints at all.
From the moment we arrived we were treated exceptionally well. Our bags were taken up to our room whilst we went to park in the permitted areas. The room was very spacious and perfect for our needs. The breakfast that was pre-ordered each night was brought to our room at exactly the time requested, piping hot and everything ordered delivered. The location of the hotel to enable exploration of Winchester could not have been better and despite being in a town centre the room we stayed in "Nina Campbell" was extremely peaceful.

MaltaI suggest a guest would feel much comfortable if he/she is dealt with from behind a desk, than having to shout over the bar while the server is trying to keep up with mixing drinks and helping someone to check in or have a slight issue. If you are thinking of an early night because you need to leave in the morning, forget it, the noise from the bar is too overwhelming even with ear plugs. Plus the kettle in my room was overdue for a descaling. Sorry if I was a little bit negative here, you do have a great place, please take note and identify the issues which need attention. Thank you.
The room is very comfortable, well equipped with every necessity and clean. One can also find dressing gowns and bedside slippers, tea/coffee tray , biscuits..etc. And finding a Bible in the drawer was very heart warming. The 2 guys who helped us with the luggage are super friendly and very polite. Sorry I forgot your names but we cannot thank you enough for your patience and help. Breakfast was very good too served by a very polite young lady.

United KingdomRoom could have done with an airing and there was the odd cobweb which made me wonder if the room hadn’t been used in a while. Maybe a decor refresh. But nit picking though - was very happy.
Location, great staff, amazing food including breakfast, good customer care, excellent value for money, room was annexe - lots of space, comfy bed, excellent shower, quiet despite being in centre

United KingdomGiven the property's prime position within Winchester's city centre, we were not surprised to find parking was on the street (using a free timed permit). This only became an issue for us when moving luggage to and from the car.
We particularly enjoyed the combination of busy historic inn/restaurant with boutique hotel rooms in a central location opposite the cathedral. The vibe was informal and relaxed but, at the same time, busy. The room was spacious, comfortable, and very quiet. Staff were friendly and enthusiastic.

United KingdomPARKING ....... Website says "free parking". After booking I got a message saying there's no car park, it's on street parking and a parking permit will be supplied on arrival. This all went to plan, HOWEVER parking is out of sight of the accommodation nearby, it's always full and pot luck if you get a space. We got a space, but were reluctant to move the car during our stay in case we couldn't get another. I went to check on the car a few times a day as the road was very narrow and spaces tight. There was rarely any spare space available, and some vehicles appeared to be blocked in by others parked too close either side. Note: To be fair, On arrival we were offered a garage to park in next to the accommodation. There's a choice of 2. Unfortunately they are only suitable for small (possibly medium) size cars because of the size and lack of turning room. As we had a 4x4 it wouldn't fit. Apparently you can't book a garage but they are available on a first come basis. ACCOMMODATION - THE ANNEXE. the annexe is across the road immediately behind the pub. It has its own private entrance, living room, kitchen, bathroom and 2 bedrooms, 1 double 1 single. It's lovely and was very clean and well equipped. BE AWARE though ..... This accommodation is over 3 floors and NOT suitable for anyone who has difficulty climbing stairs. I think this should be made more clear before booking (we were fine with it). Finally (and worth a mention) ..... The single Yale lock on the front door is inadequate security wise, it only just held the door closed and we felt a bit vulnerable at night. There are partially fitted locks at the top and bottom of the door but they don't serve any purpose because they don't work.
City centre location Well equipped kitchen in the Annexe we stayed in, they supplied the little things like washing up liquid, sponge, tea towel, jug of fresh milk. Plus the usual tea & coffee, hot chocolate, and a coffee making Pod machine with pods. Bottled water and orange juice in the fridge on arrival. (Note, this was in the 2 bedroom Annexe behind the pub, other rooms don't have a kitchen). Breakfast included full cooked with other choices and quality products. Very nice. Friendly staff very helpful. GREAT LOCATION right opposite the cathedral. We really enjoyed our stay.

United KingdomThe central location just made the parking a little difficult but the hotel made every effort to make it as easy as possible. We could have been more prepared and dropped our bags off before parking but we will know that in future.
The hotel location was excellent. Although there isn't any parking, the hotel were able to provide a road permit and we parked easily. The room was a great size and very well equipped. As you would expect in a old style building there is some noise from other rooms but it didn't bother us too much. We were made to feel very welcome and everything was very well organised. The breakfast was of a high standard and plenty of choice. Overall we had a lovely stay and would use the hotel again.

PortugalIt was more like staying at a B&B than a hotel, particularly as we were in an Annex. Very creaky floorboards of the apartment. Staff are mainly students and there did not appear to be one person in charge. On our first night we went to dinner at 19.50 to be told that the kitchen would close in ten minutes.
Lots of space in the apartment, with everything you could need supplied (apart from a bar of soap). Minor problems speedily fixed. Central location close to restaurants, shops and tourist sites. Big breakfast choice.
