Not quite as clean as I would have liked, sheets and pillows brilliant then spoilt by extra pillows and throw that looked very grubby. Okay for one night but not long stay.

It was in a lovely part of Hemel Hempstead close to all amenities and night life.

The shower was a bit tricky to work. I didn't realise that the rooms were directly over and outside the pub's smoking area. Since we were staying on a Friday and Saturday so we did have some outside noise and the windows we think are single glazed. But we're heavy enough sleepers but might not suit light sleepers.

Beds were very comfortable, we asked for single beds and were given a family room (one double & single) Large towels Lovely staff, we had dinner the first night and breakfast the first morning and the guys who were working were lovely. Very friendly and helpful, I can't remember their names. The food was lovely and had great gluten free options

The check in time offered was later than on the website and my email about this wasn’t answered until after our stay. How to check in could be made clearer. On arrival we went to the bar and the staff member was busy and seemed a bit stressed. It wasn’t a particularly welcoming start to our stay.

The room was a really good configuration for our family of five, with 3 older children. The beds were comfy and it was clean. It was great to have plenty of tea and coffee and a fridge in the room and the breakfast was good. The breakfast staff were polite and friendly.

Very enjoyable stay. Very helpful staff, had originally booked for one night, but due to change in circumstances required an extra night and the staff were extremely helpful in sorting that out. Nice breakfast to start the day. Will not hesitate to return if I am in the area.

went down for breakfast on the first morning to be asked abruptly iff we were staying as guests or not the member off staff wasn’t very welcoming at all very miserable and made you feel like everything was a chore for him. Went down the next morning hoping to see the lovely lady that was there on last visit but no it was mr miserable again

No hot water the next morning! Little things like no bottled water, tissues or biscuits for morning drink.

Bedroom was OK. Quite large and bed was reasonably comfortable. TV was difficult to navigate and NO BBC channels! Bathroom was main issue. Poorly cleaned, marks on toilet, around sink plug and hairs in the shower. There was also quite a pungent smell! Being an old building I wondered if it was the drains, but it was quite unpleasant. We were unable to sample the breakfast, as I misread the hotel details and thought breakfast was from 7am every day, but at weekends it is from 8.30am, which was too late for us.

Pub was lovely and evening meal was excellent. My fish was cooked to perfection.

Noisy at night into the early hours due to the high street location. Not the pubs fault but lots of shouting in the streets after hours

The room was a bit smaller than I expected but it was very well equipped and everything was new and clean. Next time I'll book a bigger room, I think. A coffee machine in the room would have been great. Couldn't really open the blinds as you're looking right into flats opposite.

The lady serving breakfast couldn't do enough for all the guests, she was excellent and so friendly. The cooked breakfast was really good. Great heating / air con in the room. The tea making facilities in the room were brilliant. The bathroom was new and modern, boiling hot water. Plenty of pillows, nice bedding. We ate in the bar in the evening and the food was great pub food, plenty of it and good value for money

The street noise

The atmosphere, location & especially the staff. The room was comfortable and clean, while the facilities were a little above average they could be improved. Overall very happy with the inn feel.

Only the fact that we had to come outside the hotel to get to the room that was situated in a modern block.

Staff were excellent, really good breakfast too, room was smallish but adequate. Once we'd worked out the heating was very warm too. Good selection of teas and kettle in room. Good access to the High Street, lots of restaurants and pubs.
