How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

We loved the breakfast, beds and welcome we were given. Clear instructions on parking and facilities available. The owners are working hard to make improvements and what was dated but wont be for long (completely functional) was entirely outshone by the standard of food, cleanliness and extremely warm welcome. This place will be one to watch in future.

Nothing at all. Des and Sinead have got the right balance of everything.
Welcoming and extremely friendly owners who couldn’t do enough for you - service was amazing. Instantly felt at ease and in safe hands. Cleanliness was spot on. Very comfortable beds.Location was lovely and great for local points of interest - especially family days out Highland wildlife park, Landmark.Breakfast was exceptional. Packed lunch available on request and at additional cost - best packed lunch ever! Highly recommended - we’re looking forward to planning another trip.

A cute hotel run by a very friendly couple. Des and Sinead are such amazing hosts – they were more than happy to chat with us, make us feel comfortable and shared lots of great tips for local sightseeing. In spite of turning up way past the checkin time, we were greeted with a hearty smile and warmly welcomed. Sinead made us a wholesome and delicious breakfast! The hotel is tastefully decorated – I particularly loved the pretty wallpapers and flower arrangements. Rooms were spacious, clean and cosy. We had a lovely experience and will certainly stay again if we're in the area.

Although we had to leave within a few hours of checking-in due to some emergency, so couldn't spend the night there. But, the location of the hotel was great. A great stopover on the way from highlands. The room was spacious. The hosts were very accommodative. We requested a early check-in and they very kindly obliged.

A fantastic stay! After a lovely warm welcome, Sinead and Des frequently went out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed or wanted. The cleanliness and comfort of the room was flawless, and the breakfast was excellent. The Osprey is in a great location in Kingussie, which in itself is a little charmer of a place, with great walks and a beautiful setting. I've stayed in many, many hotels, guest houses and holiday rentals, so when you find a place where the owners care about the guests' experience, and are thoughtful about what you'll want, it sticks in your memory.

Parking is over the road.
Very friendly owners who looked after us splendidly. happy to accommodate our dog. Cooked us a meal as we hadn’t realised it didn’t usually do food. breakfast was delicious.

The hotel was in a great location for our Cairngorm activities. It is immaculately clean and tidy and Sinead and Des are wonderful hosts - they made us feel at home as soon as we arrived and nothing was any trouble at all. Even better were the good chats over a beer or two which they were happy for us to keep cold in their fridge. Breakfast was fabulous and set us up for a day of kayaking or hill walking - again, timed to suit our schedule which we really appreciated. Lovely people, lovely hotel - say no more.

It was a real great stay at the Osprey Hotel. In the evening we were served a very delicious dinner just made for us. Breakfast was also perfect and a lot to eat. The rooms were nice and comfortiable. The staff was very welcoming and nice - you really could feel like home.
