I have it a 7 only because of the noise factor. I started on a Thursday night, which is Trivia Night. They played very loud music in between questions. My room (3) was just at the top of the stairs and the noise level was very high. The good part was they stopped at 11 pm but I really needed to have quiet before that hour. Then, (no fault of the inn), the rubbish was collected just outside my window at 4:45 am and it was VERY loud!

Located right in the city center, next to The StoryHouse and a few steps from an entrance to the city walls. Lovely old inn, established in 1535! My room was comfortable and I loved the wallpaper! I had a nice, hot shower. The staff were friendly and accommodating.

Shower. Could provide Shower Cap. Really powerful lots of hot water, however only had an overhead Shower head so for anyone who may not want to wash their hair every morning a Shower cap is needed.

It was quite loud. There was lots of noise in the morning (room 4) from the streets. And there was some additional noise coming from the machinery/noise from the kitchen below us.

Hospitality tray very basic. No biscuits no fresh milk. Not what I would expect from a superior room. Breakfast seemed expensive at £16 so we choose to find our own breakfast as lots of choices in town,

Continental breakfast selection was very poor. Workman drilling during breakfast service (very noisy). Only overhead shower, no hand held for ladies who don't want their hair wetting

Room at the front of the building had some early morning noise with vehicles/delivery but not a huge issue for us.

Affordable and comfortable accommodation in a central location! We booked a table for food and drinks in the evening - the cheese burger and onion rings were amazing!

For a weekend stay was Ok, theres a few things of detail that I would be feedback for improvement. -Hot water was very hot and culd be dangerous -Slight smell of kitchen - room 6

The age of the building will always be a challenge and therefore our expectation was met. More quality bed cushions was common complaint with the 4 people in our party. The food was value for money and standard expoected for a Pub restaurant type.
