How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

Nothing, it was perfect.
The Plough far exceeded our expectations. We were expecting a country pub and got a modern well run pub/restaurant with very friendly and helpful staff, extremely good, tasty food and a well furnished modern residential block housing the rooms which were spacious and had a lovely big bed. The food is freshly cooked, including the breakfast, and you can tell it is. We will definitely be coming back and adjusting our travel arrangements to stay a few more nights.

The location is brilliant, fab restaurant & bar, lovely & clean, had all the things you would need in room, hairdryer, iron & trouser press, kettle with tea & coffee ect.

The room we had was so much bigger than I imagined. It was really clean and every amenity you needed. Cannot wait to go back. Special mention to the food in the restaurant. Wow, incredible. All the staff we lovely and was great to see the owner getting involved too. He was also really friendly.

Very clean, spacious room. Staff were all very lovely and nothing too much bother for them. Food was fantastic..gluten and dairy free brownies were amazing!! Very good value for money all round.

The staff were exceptionally pleasant and helpful. I felt welcome. Good easy parking. Bedrooms well isolated from main building. I usually avoid hotels which major on weddings etc but this was fine. Food well above average. Good quality steak (a bit too well done for my preference, must emphasise RARE RARE RARE next time) and fresh vegetables. Very house Rioja too.

They had a wedding on a Wednesday that went late into the night. Loud DJ and party. Happy for them they were having fun, but definitely was hard to sleep. The girl in the restaurant said they have weddings almost every night, even during the week.
Very nice family motel type lodging. Very nice restaurant and breakfast was terrific. Large rooms and comfortable beds.

Only slight issue was with man upstairs very noisy banging doors and woke up in middle of night to hear him snoring loudly, obviously nothing to do with the proprietors, also a rather abrupt waitress who when we placed our meal order, answered "is that it" I'm sure it wasn't meant to come across the way it came, but maybe polish up the people skills, 😂
Our second stay and everything still great, lovely evening meal, great breakfast, comfy bed like sleeping on a cloud.

Could hear every movement in the room above. Not a big deal. Recommend getting an upstairs room.

The menu said "continental breakfast" available. However, that really only meant cereal, toast and a fruit bowl. That could have been more creative.
I was really impressed by the breakfast service. The staff were diligent, efficient, and very thorough. You always know when you're dealing with experienced staff when they don't have to write anything down. I'm pleased that there were sensible vegetarian and gluten free options available.

Bed was extremely uncomfortable and pillows very flat (bring your own). Tiny bit of mould around the bath.
Wedding venue absolutely stunning and all staff were great - friendly and approachable. Water pressure in rooms amazing and breakfast nice the next day.

There was a wedding on a Friday which caught me out and beer garden was closed for wedding guests and bar was packed with wedding guests at lunchtime. But it was no big issue and didn’t detract from the lovely set up.
The way it looks and the location. The room was amazing and bathroom superb.

Breakfast pricing could be structured better. Didn't realise it was a set price. I only had 1 slice of toast and a egg and was charged £12.50.

Be careful if you're tall and staying in an upstairs room! I've hit my head twice coming out of the rooms as the guttering is very low. Also when turning the hot tap on, the pipes screech really loudly so only turned it on briefly to fill sink to wash hands. Hot tap is extremely hot!
I stay here regularly when working on nights nearby. As always I had a lovely stay. Excellent food, great breakfast, immaculately clean and comfy rooms.

When we arrived there were workmen and some noise. This was soon rectified.
The atmosphere was really good especially in the pub/ restaurant.
