Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomWow. Just wow. After some unexpected weather and car troubles, 'Rambler's Rest' couldn't be a more fitting name. The owners went over and above to ensure we had a terrific stay, the GIGANTIC hot tub with spa shoes and robes was a real treat and the eco friendly toiletries were a very welcome surprise. Thought and care has gone into every inch of this place and after swearing I'll never go hiking in Dartmoor again, knowing this place exists actually makes it feel not quite so daunting. It was an emergency booking after our camping gear didn't perform quite as we wanted in the hail and the rain and our boots weren't quite prepared for the amount of bog we encountered so it was a true oasis. It makes me really happy that in a world of chains that places like this still exist, where passion and personality can shine through and make a trip to the English countryside a true delight, no matter what else is happening with the weather! Despite feeling quite beaten up by our hiking experiences we were so refreshed the following day after staying here that we ventured out again on waking for a coastal walk instead of scurrying back to the city as we were promising ourselves before we arrived. Thank you Nikki and Terry for turning 'nightmare' into 'adventure' and making the trip something we could laugh about as soon as the following day. We'll be back!

United KingdomHappy all round!
The Ramblers Rest is perfectly situated for visiting Dartmoor without any real necessity to drive anywhere. There are plenty of really good hikes to different Tors and other local places of interest right on the doorstep. Our host was very welcoming and gave us plenty of local info on places to eat and visit. The room was very well decorated and nicely finished, including the bathroom. The bed was extremely comfortable and the shower was lovely and warm. The accomodation included a drying room, which was great to dry-out all our wet hiking gear! We will definitely be staying again and would happily recommend 'The Ramblers Rest'.

United KingdomThe only significant issue was the road noise — this is probably one of the busiest intersections in Dartmoor and even with the windows closed, it sounded as if they were open. I think most of the rooms do not face the road though so potentially not an issue for you.
Great location close to the crossroads in the center of Dartmoor. 5 minute drive from Wistman's Wood, and very close to many other fantastic locations as well. (Note that the attached photo was taken with a zoom lens from the edge of the wood, please do not walk into the wood!) There are many excellent framed photographs hanging all over the hotel from local landscape photographer Greg Braund. The drying room was fantastic and really useful since it was a very wet weekend! Owner Nikki was nice and very hospitable. The hot tub is great, and really huge! Comfy beds.

United KingdomBed matress was a bit too soft for my bad back, sank right into it but would be great if you like a soft memory foam matress. Radiators on timer could do with coming on earlier so it’s warm when you get back from cold walks about 3-4pm. These were just minor things, overall we were very impressed and happy with our stay.
Lovely large and modern studio style room equipped with everything we needed including sofa, dining table and tv. Clean kitchen with oven, hob, microwave, fridge and kettle. Shower was lovely and powerful and hot. Warm, comfortable and dog friendly room. The hosts were very friendly, welcoming and helpful and always around to chat to. They even delivered a new year breakfast pack of crumpets and jams incase we didn’t have anything and the cafe was closed New Year’s Day. The location is excellent next door to our favourite pub and cafe and lovely walks across the moors right from the door. Village shop for emergencies. Can walk straight to Nuns cross from there which is a lovely walk with amazing scenery.

United KingdomLeaving the hot tub in the cold raining weather, would like to be able to hang dressing gowns somewhere dry, but to be fair most people might not use it in those conditions!
Lovely room with all the facilities you need, great bath, loved the coffee machine, sink and fridge, huge bed which was very comfy. Nice games and maps and books to use. Huge hot tub! Terry and Nikki were wonderful hosts, they took care of everything, gave us an upgraded room because they were not busy and late check out, most appreciated!

United KingdomWe had a lovely room booked with all the essentials - on arrival we actually got upgraded to a room with a full kitchen and everything was just fabulous. The staff is super nice and helpful, we were able to lock our bikes in a shed and loved the hot tub after a day out in the Nationalpark. We would definitely stay here again and recommend it to anyone who would like to explore Dartmoor.

Location was perfect and the hosts were lovely & friendly. I was upgraded to a lovely room with huge comfortable bed and slept soundly. The hot tub was a highlight and wonderful to soak and watch the stars and lucky to have it all to myself. Terry was so helpful and came out to put the covers back on as were quite heavy so I didn’t have to do this myself.

United KingdomNo hot shower the first morning. The hosts were very apologetic that the immersion heater was not turned on for the weekend so I'm sure this is not something that normally happens.
Good location in the middle of Dartmoor. A quiet place with easy access to the countryside around. My room had a very comfortable bed, duvet and pillows. Not lots of extra space as there was a sink and drink making facilities as well as a fridge, microwave and toaster. A small drying room opposite was helpful for my kayak drysuit and clothes. Lovely shower room and toilet area. Would be happy to stay again. About 25 mins away from the start of the Dart Loop.

United Kingdomnothing,
The owners were lovely and couldn't be more accommodating, I was given a tour when I got there! The entire place was really nice and very clean, it had obviously been freshly refurbed and was cosy and modern. There was a covered outdoor seating area with a wood burner in it and a hot tub! Lovely little kitchen in the room and they left milk in the fridge. Very accommodating to us as kayakers, and even had a little dry room which was a major unexpected bonus! Would definitely recommend this place to other paddlers and hikers, climbers ect. Its clearly marketed towards outdoorsy people who don't like to rough it at night (maybe even have a little bit of luxury) and had been well thought out as such. But I'm sure anyone would enjoy staying here.
