Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThere was nothing not to like!
The friendliness of the staff was terrific - nothing was too much trouble. The breakfast (inclusive) could not be faulted, dinners too were most excellent. The bar carried the range of St Austell cask ales which would delight the most discerning beer drinker. The room had everything that one needed, and to remedy an unfortunate breakdown in the heating system the proprietor went to the trouble to supply two electric radiators which adequately served their purpose. I have no hesitation in recommending this establishment ideally situated in this beautiful Cornish village.

United KingdomThe young team of staff seemed to lack training. After my breakfast was brought to the table all the servers disappeared, and I had to venture into the kitchen to find someone to ask for some toast. Staff shortage? When staff were in the restaurant, they were having loud un-work related conversations. At one point during breakfast, a Chef walked through the restaurant and went outside leaving the door open behind him, that I needed to get up and close myself to keep the cold out. The salt pots didn't work and only needed some grains of rice added to soak up the moisture; Schoolboy error. The room was noisy in the evening from the sounds from the bar, with one local having the loudest voice and laugh in the whole of Cornwall.
The room was clean, comfortable and the food in the restaurant was excellent, albeit with a limited choice.

United KingdomOne comment, and this I am certain applies to a lot of restaurants and that is the cleaning of the tables where the trend is to use a bacterial spray. The problem with this is that the tables remain sticky especially where drink is spilt and I can speak from experience as I own a restaurant, there needs to be a move back to cloths and soap and water! We would happily recommend The Rising Sun to anybody visiting St Mawes
We had a very nice room Glendurgan and enjoyed our stay. The dinner menu was a little limited but enjoyed what we had.

United KingdomThe staff cleared away the outdoor seating quite early. No one asked us to move, and I understand it might have felt like a long day - but it’s such a pretty place to sit outside!
When we make a late booking, we know we may not get a great room - but this room was lovely. It was simple, clean, comfortable and had everything we needed.

United KingdomOnly accept bookings from numbers you can cater for with comfort. One big party of circa 20 turned up late throwing the whole evening into chaos for everyone.
Breakfast was great. Dinner was disappointing in that too many bookings and not enough staff. As residents we were not giving any preference causing massive delays. The manager was under tremendous pressure and did a great job overall

United KingdomEvening meals, in my opinion pub grub, and I think the menu needs vamping, could be a lot better. The floor in our room was on a slight slope, quirky, age of the building, not a problem in the day, we both ended up one side of the bed in the mornings. Tea and coffee was supplied, very nice gesture but I would have preferred tea bags and coffee sachets as it made a mess emptying the leaves. I had on 2 occasions a dirty glass from the pub (last nights lipstick). In this climate these things need to be checked.
Breakfast menu was great although one morning my scrambled egg was undercooked, but it was only once. Not sure if there was more than one chef as cooked food quality varied. The room was nice it had all the facilities we needed. shower was great. We also had the use of a communal fridge to store milk and odd bottle of wine. It is in a great location overlooking the sea. Plenty of great places to eat but you need to pre book as they are very busy. The pub was cleaned inside and out each morning. Fresh sheets and towels on request.
