Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe food in the Riverside Inn was not great. Maybe we got them on a bad day. I had the Fish and Chips. Fish was overdone and really tasteless. The staff were great that served it though😄
The Riverside Inn is really oldie worldie. The room has lots of original oak beams and features. Lots of little extras too like a coffee machine, teas and biscuits 😁 It is conveniently located next to a large shopping mall so ideal for food or other stuff you might need. There is a lovely walk next to the river Chelmer

AustraliaConvenient location, close to centre of town and walking distance from train also. Restaurant meals very good. Rooms are unique and I love the style. Worth a stay if you're in the area. The staff also allowed us to leave our luggage on-site as we arrived earlier than expected.

United KingdomOnly one bedside lamp, so lighting was not adequate. The room was a bit cold and the heater didn’t work so we were told to use the portable heater which keep tripping the lights. The coffee machine was a bit odd - you had to manually hold the lever to keep the coffee pouring..!
Nice spacious room, comfy bed and clean bathroom. Plenty of tea, coffee and biscuits too 😁.

United KingdomNot really dislike but I arrived just before 12 and the property was not open ……I knew I could check in until 2pm but was wanting to get a drink etc. They did unlock the door a few minutes later though. Just thought it would have opened at 11 being an Inn?
Central location and nice place

United KingdomThe bathtub was small so was very hard to shower
It’s a 400 year old inn. It’s part of a pub which has so much charm and history. It’s very much like walking back in history with wooden beams, creaming floors and charming features.

United KingdomThe room looked very different than expected, the photos showed everything seeming brighter and more colourful. I had a very dark coloured and low lit room which made things seem fairly drab. I did comment on the appearance to a staff member and they didn't offer to show me any other rooms or say if any others were available he just awkwardly said "oh okay" . So his customer service skills weren't great, however he explained how to get into the room well enough and where the areas were for guests to get to and from if I needed to get out at night and where to put my keys in the morning.
The beams were pretty and the bed was very comfy.

United KingdomWas to be expected, but people up/down stairs caused some discomfort with sleep. Would be great to offer breakfast - even only continental, but Cooked would be perfect. However, not a complaint as there are so many other options within a few minutes walk.
Size of room. Room facilities. Cleanliness (+ daily cleaning). Food offered - very good. Location for shops, train/bus station - excellent.

United KingdomThe only thing I would say was that the pillows were of not great quality - I did not go to ask to change them, as I was already in bed by the time I realised that. So I am sure the very helpful staff would have helped, if I had asked.
The room was magical, spacious and had everything we needed.
