I realise this is part of it being an old building, but there are very squeaky floorboards and the noise above disturbed me at about 6am and lasted quite a while

really nice spacious room and the hotel is in a good location, ten minutes walk from the train station

Great place to stay we had a party in town so it was convenient to stay for us Room was nice bigger then I thought comfortable bed we had kettle coffee maker with biscuits and breakfast bar Staff were really friendly and helpful showed us to the room and explained how we have 24 hour access by a side door with key fob Car park opposite and it cost us 3.90 for 24 hours We had a drink in the beer garden before we rang a taxi for the party they gave us a list of numbers it was great atmosphere in the pub It is an old building and lots of stairs to the room something to be aware of if you have walking problems We would definitely stay here again

Property was easy to find with parking across the paid (paid separately). The room was gorgeous, quirky and cosy. We had a meal downstairs which was lovely as were all the staff.

The food in the Riverside Inn was not great. Maybe we got them on a bad day. I had the Fish and Chips. Fish was overdone and really tasteless. The staff were great that served it though😄

The Riverside Inn is really oldie worldie. The room has lots of original oak beams and features. Lots of little extras too like a coffee machine, teas and biscuits 😁 It is conveniently located next to a large shopping mall so ideal for food or other stuff you might need. There is a lovely walk next to the river Chelmer

Convenient location, close to centre of town and walking distance from train also. Restaurant meals very good. Rooms are unique and I love the style. Worth a stay if you're in the area. The staff also allowed us to leave our luggage on-site as we arrived earlier than expected.

Only one bedside lamp, so lighting was not adequate. The room was a bit cold and the heater didn’t work so we were told to use the portable heater which keep tripping the lights. The coffee machine was a bit odd - you had to manually hold the lever to keep the coffee pouring..!

Nice spacious room, comfy bed and clean bathroom. Plenty of tea, coffee and biscuits too 😁.

Very noisy floor boards that all need screwing down! I know it is old but it was like people were in my room!

Great location with convenient parking over the road for around £5 for 24hrs. Lovely old building with lots of character. Friendly staff and great fish n chips for dinner.

Not really dislike but I arrived just before 12 and the property was not open ……I knew I could check in until 2pm but was wanting to get a drink etc. They did unlock the door a few minutes later though. Just thought it would have opened at 11 being an Inn?

    Central location and nice place

Wasn't really anything that I didn't enjoy. Good choice of beers, food was ok but good friendly service which is more important to me.

My room was absolutely fabulous. Plenty of teas, fresh pod coffee and bickys. Comfortable bed, large TV if needed, good bathroom etc etc etc

The bathtub was small so was very hard to shower

It’s a 400 year old inn. It’s part of a pub which has so much charm and history. It’s very much like walking back in history with wooden beams, creaming floors and charming features.

The room looked very different than expected, the photos showed everything seeming brighter and more colourful. I had a very dark coloured and low lit room which made things seem fairly drab. I did comment on the appearance to a staff member and they didn't offer to show me any other rooms or say if any others were available he just awkwardly said "oh okay" . So his customer service skills weren't great, however he explained how to get into the room well enough and where the areas were for guests to get to and from if I needed to get out at night and where to put my keys in the morning.

The beams were pretty and the bed was very comfy.
