We have stayed at this hotel before and like it's rambling and quirky nature. Our room had a lovely view over the Jurassic Coast.

We had two rooms for our family- both room double bed bases where worn out, also mattress- squeaky , my back was hurting after second nights sleep. Time to change them. Could hear squeaky ceiling, guests walking around. If you don’t mind that, then it is alright.

Good location- close to sea side, around loads of little cosy food places, restaurants, local shops. In hotel extras - pool, sauna , jacuzzi- free of charge. Old style building. The reception worker was really nice, sorted our room heating, when we came back drenched from rain. In site car park, they are saying small- I’d say quite big considering area/location.

selection was poor. No fresh fruit others than one orange that was difficult to peel. No croissants left by 8.30 and poor selection of rolls or bread. I did not want a cooked breakfast but still had to pay for one. TV in room was black and white! Shower was too stiff to turn so was too hot for me to use.

    Staff were friendly

Only an hour in the pool - we were rushed by staff to dress and come out for the next person. Didn't understand why it was booked individually when we're not in lockdown anymore. It would work better if there was a 15 min gap between bookings to allow us to dress

Breakfast was average. Didn't like the sourdough would have preferred toast. In hindsight would miss the breakfast Room was clean and bed was comfy. It was a quiet location even though it's the Main Street

In the English style, very comfortable room, nice and warm. We had a sea view from our room and we were just a stones throw from the beach.

The bar closed at 2130 every evening which I found strange. It would have been nice to have been able to sit in one of the snugs with a glass of wine or beer late in the evening.

The staff were very friendly and helpful, especially Sharon who went out of her way to direct us to places to visit.

    See above comment

The breakfast spread was huge with lots of options. I ordered poached eggs on toast as other people came into the dining room. I soon had to remind the waitress that I was still waiting; eventually one egg on a slice of toast appeared! The coffee was cold by this time, so I was rather disappointed re service in the dining room.

Being charged for breakfast when hadnt been informed it wasnt inclusive; and charged £12 when I had only taken one v.small pain au raisin and one coffee. Think this was mean and ungenerous and do hope you'll reimburse this money - ideally 2x£12.

Proximity to the sea; Friendliness of staff, Places to sit and relax outside of bedroom, ie Bar, and 2 sitting rooms.

I thought I had booked to stay in the main hotel on top floor. But we were in what I think was the converted stables. No bottled water in room.

Great location lovely old place would of loved to know about the history of it couldn’t see any blurb at all on the place.

The bacon was hard and the tomato was not fully cooked and not properly hot.

The cooked breakfast was nice but I would say it was rather ordinary. However the juices and fruit and cakes on the buffet table were delicious. We really enjoyed our swim in the pool in the morning.

Our room was very cold, but we were given extra radiators. This made a difference in the bedroom but didn't warm the bathroom. In addition the water in the bathroom was lukewarm. We reported this on the first morning, but the problem was never rectified. Eventually we were moved to another room after 2 nights. It seemed as if the various different staff members at reception did not communicate with each other about our issue with the hot water, so I'm guessing it was overlooked. When we checked out, Pedro (a manager?) disputed a meal voucher that we had, arguing that it wasn't valid. We were also charged for an extra night. This was subsequently refunded. Overall we enjoyed our stay, but these small things left us feeling disappointed.

The hotel was welcoming, with a lot of history. The staff were lovely, helpful and friendly, on the whole. The breakfasts were delicious. The pool was a nice bonus. The location was perfect, right in the middle of the town.
