    Having to leave.

Perfect for what myself and my sister were wanting; a place to relax after sightseeing and being on the road travelling for several days. Little touches like a hot water bottle I really enjoyed not because it was cold but soothing to an aching back. We’d been staying in a range of accommodation from five star hotels to little b&bs and the breakfast at the Smithy by far the best.

Check-in/check-out times seemed a little restrictive as we would have liked to spend a couple more hours enjoying the view from our room.

The location of this hotel is beautiful overlooking the garden and fields beyond. We had a perfect view of the animals in the garden from the balcony of our room (the paddock view). The room was comfortable, all needs were accommodated. The host’s were warm and welcoming, and last but by no means least the breakfast was delicious.

The property was in an idyllic spot, with beautiful views of rolling hills, perfect for a relaxing stay away. We didn’t put the tv on in the morning, just looked at the view! Exceptional value for money. The breakfast was also amazing value for money. In a beautiful breakfast room full of charm, the breakfast was superb. Will definitely be returning.

We had a lovely welcome from Chris, who was really warm and helpful. The room was fantastic, the pictures don’t do it justice and the view was special. Breakfast the following morning blew us away. Couldn’t recommended this stay any more.

Only issue for some is it is around 3 miles outside Hay-on-Wye and we ate at lunchtime so we didn't have to drive back into town to eat in the evening.

We have stayed here before, pre-pandemic, and so chose it deliberately. The welcome was excellent and we were given the annex room as last time. Big room looking out over the valley. We felt safe and comfortable and slept well. Excellent breakfast

I would have loved an earlier check in time, I know it needed to fit around the hosts and we did entertain ourselves with a walk around hay and lunch before check in but we would have happily arrived and checked in earlier if there was an option.

Absolutely beautiful room with a lovely view. Clean and tidy with everything you'd need for a visit. There's even a small kitchen area with sink, microwave and fridge which is good to note if you want to bring food and drink. Hosts were lovely and really accommodating, and it's only a 7-minute drive to the centre of Hay on Wye, which was really convenient. The included breakfast was delicious, a really nice, varied menu, and lots provided to fill you up for the day. It was all fresh and good quality too. Overall, a lovely short stay which I'd recommend.

Absolutely lovely. The fresh fruit with yogurt was a taster for the more robust cooked breakfast. All cooked fresh for us. Delicious
