Room was dusty in places. Had to ask for the fitted sheet to be replaced as very hairy. Thought the bar was quite pricey

Food was excellent, dogs were welcome, with good walks, large room with good on suite. Well placed for local attractions

Cold breakfast selection lacking. There were 3 types of cornflakes(!) and the bowls were dirty. It's probably best not to offer a cold selection to avoid disappointment. Constructive criticism hopefully :) Hot breakfast was good. There isn't much else in Pathead - not the hotel's fault obviously !

We stayed here after dropping our son and his girlfriend off for a flight from Edinburgh Airport. The hotel is around 20-30 minutes from the airport on a main road approaching Pathead. Plus points Very friendly staff, comfortable bed, tea & coffee making facilities, hot shower, nice beer garden & small childrens play area, decent bar prices, good value hearty evening meals. The hotel is dog friendly and welcomed our little pup.

The bed was very bouncy with springs digging into you. Pillows were very hard and flat. Shower lacked the pressure I'm used to, but serviceable. Lukewarm water in the sink. Getting a taxi into Edinburgh centre is pricey / difficult - £35 into Edinburgh, Uber non-existent from the Inn and are reluctant to take a fare from Edinburgh to Stair Inn due to distance.

The Inn is really lovely. Staff are friendly. Breakfast was nice with lots of options. Plenty of parking. Not too far to drive from Edinburgh centre. Rooms were nicely furnished, clean, tidy, and spacious.

Quiet location, 25-30 minutes from the centre of Edinburgh by car, the room was clean and comfortable and a good breakfast was included in the price, very good VFM. Would book again. Very friendly and helpful staff. The hotel is right next to the A68 but I didn't hear any traffic noise at all.

Black dirt/mould around the window frame. Also black marks around bottom of the shower. My TV didn't seem to store channels so had to spend 10 mins retuning it every time although didn't watch much TV For some reason breakfast service was really slow on last morning Also, would be nice yo have more of a Scottish theme breakfast with Scottish Tatty Scones for example. No hair dryer in room although I didn't really need it.

Good location with ample parking. Nice setting and easy to find. Ideally would need your own transport. Room clean with all the facilties that I needed. 2 single beds in my room but comfortable. Good shower and heated towel rail in bathroom and ample towels. Plenty of storage and tea/coffee and biscuits. Great breakfast.

Some of the decor is a bit tatty but I am assuming the hotel is under a decoration process as I could smell paint in the corridor

Easily accessible by car. Very relaxed atmosphere ans my evening meal was delicious. Breakfast isn't buffet style and everything cooked to order

There was not really any hot water for the bath. The shower was fine, but could not draw a hot bath

Floor was dirty in our room, couldn't tell if bed sheets was clean,on my pillow case was someone else hair Need to improve on cleaning room and fresh bed sheets Looks much more nice on pictures than actual life

The only major downside to this place is the location since due to it being outside of the city, getting to it can be a bit of a challenge, especially if one relies on public transport.

Good food, comfy beds, friendly staff, excellent value for money and I would certainly consider returning at a later date if I have the chance to do so.

Just a minor point but the finish on some of the decor was rather poor standard, despite the clearly high-quality materials and fittings.

My only real issue is that our satnav kept trying to direct us to a gate that I think leads on to a long track across a field and up to the back of the property. It's actually not hard to find if you just read a regular map!

I initially chose this almost at random for a one night stay on our way home from a longer trip. I struck very lucky. The location is absolutely beautiful. The staff are friendly, helpful and have the rare quality of really caring whether or not you enjoy your stay. Willing to bend the rules a little bit on things like the timing of last orders for dinner for people like us who arrive later than planned. I can thoroughly recommend the fish and chips.
