Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThere was a beautiful roll-top bath but no amenities to enjoy it! We would have had to have bought our own, and I didn't think to!
The modern rooms and the wonderful atmosphere. My husband and I spent two nights and enjoyed our stay. The staff were so welcoming and friendly. The village was lovely to walk around, and we were heading to Denby for our china anniversary so conveniently located. The food at the restaurant was also fabulous, and some really unique cocktails too!

United KingdomAlthough not their fault, the road is very busy, so traffic noise was an issue. Perhaps a room at the back of the building may be quieter. Also, the continental breakfast was very disappointing. No croissants, yoghurts or pastries, and I had to ask for toast. Just packaged muffins, fruit and tinned latte. I understand that there probably weren’t many guests, but a quick trip to Co-op to pick up some fresh croissants would have made the breakfast more appetising.
Beautiful location and very friendly staff. We also had the most amazing Indian meal in the restaurant.

The location is 6 miles out of Matlock Bath. The place is a very large Pub/Restaurant building with hotel like stay upper floors. Newley refurbished to high standard. We were given a very large corner room with end-suit. The breakfast was cooked to order, very nice and plenty. Large free car park.

United KingdomThe bar closed before 10.30 - it would have been nice to relax where we were staying before bed but the King William a few minutes' walk away did the job nicely. Mother in law's room didn't have a wardrobe or coat hangers which she found inconvenient (our room did). The TV remote control was missing from one room but not the other. There was noise from a fan during the night (possibly outside from the kitchens?) which was more noticable due to the otherwise quiet location.
Beautifully refurbished pub and rooms at the Elephant and Peacock (formerly the Strutt Arms). Wonderful Indian restaurant and pub with great value Happy hour! Quiet village location with two other pubs for the evening and nice walks. Excellent cooked breakfast - the best we have had in a hotel/pub accommodation in years. We had two rooms - one for mother in law who has some difficulty walking. The staff were so helpful with carrying her bags and offering to bring food from the buffet table at breakfast which was really appreciated. Great location and value for money - we would stay again!

United KingdomWe had a room on the road side of the hotel which meant we could hear traffic outside which we are not used too. If road noise is a concern i would ask for a room at the rear.
We had the continental breakfast which was very good. Plenty of choice and fresh toast and coffee served to the table

LuxembourgNo shelf to put things on in the bathroom. Not possible to use hair drier in front of mirror ; needs a mirror above the desk in the main room. Would have been nice if the bar was open more hours.
Large room, nice decor super soft towels, quiet, even though on a main A road. Bed very comfy !! Cooked breakfast was good quality.

United KingdomSaid the room was soundproof which it wasn’t by any stretch, loud music downstairs (usually I would be fine with thy is but booked the room as I knew I’d need to sleep early. Traffic loud and noise from downstairs and adjacent rooms loud. Mention of breakfast on previous reviews all said it was amazing but no cooked breakfast either day I stayed, very basic continental breakfast with stale pastries, no proper coffee and awful bread for toast. Also restaurant not open Monday night either so very lacking for me but that was personal to the days I visited, I feel it should be cheaper for those nights and MUCH more obvious as I wouldn’t have stayed if I had known.
Lovely building and very very comfy bed, lovely bedding, toiletries and room. Evening food when restaurant was open was incredible Indian food- really delicious and authentic.

United KingdomDidn't dislike anything! Loo seat was wobbly when we got there, so needs mending but that's all!
Fabulous room (No.2), very quiet. Good facilities. Everything to do with dining (inc. breakfast was excellent) we stayed on a Friday and Saturday night and had the option of cooked breakfast each day. Had two evening meals and they were really good, great atmosphere and also sport was on, but at one end of bar/restaurant so just available for those who were interested.

United KingdomI like this place though the owners need to clarify on Mondays and Tuesdays there is only continental breakfast. I knew this and it’s in their bedroom instruction pack but it’s not clear on the internet. I saw some customers very disappointed.
