Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomNo complaints at all. It delivered all that was needed and we'll come again. But, being really picky, the room was so well sized that it felt a bit bare. Perhaps a desk?
I am a regular visitor to this area but had not stayed at the Strutt Arms before (we usually use Makeney Hall - but there was no availability). Really like the place - more lively, good Indian restaurant and bar on site, and a good breakfast included in the price. The room was really spacious. I had some concerns it would be noisy right next to the A6, but the the bedroom was well sound-proofed and not a problem at all. Regular bus service right out side.

United KingdomRoom 2 is a big space. It would be great to make more use of this space! Perhaps with a small sofa, additional arm chair or coffee table? Even a big rug would fill the space nicely.
Comfy room and bed. Lovely bathroom. Great staff. Yummy breakfast.

United KingdomThe standard room we had was fine for one night but did not have a wardrobe as advertised - just a few hooks on the wall and no hangers. Only there for one night so not a problem but if had been there a few nights there wasn't anywhere to put clothes.
Friendly staff, nice bar and Indian restaurant on site. Easy parking. Good nights sleep. In historic area (World Heritage Site) with interpretation panels near by. Historic building and fairly close to town centre.

United KingdomAt the start of the week, when the restaurant was shut, the breakfast was continental rather than cooked. I find a cooked breakfast every day a bit heavy, so it was a bonus to me, and the cooked breakfast was lovely when it came.
Beautiful room and really kind and thoughtful staff. The Indian gastropub downstairs is lovely and the food and drinks delicious. I’m rebooking.

United KingdomThe room was far too hot- quite unbearable and no obvious ability to open the window due to secondary glazing. A green emergency light Was on all night in the room and so requiring complete darkness to sleep it was very bright and unhelpful. Breakfast was over cooked. All the staff were excellent
The room was excellent. Great bed, linen, lots of towels, clean, friendly staff, tea making facilities, an iron, good car parking

United KingdomThat the Srutt Arms is only the upstairs part. The downstairs is called the Elephant and Peacock, because of this we drove right passed before checking on Google maps to realise it is two properties in one our mistake!!
Good staff, bar choice good, warm, comfortable bed and room, breakfast very nice. The menu looks good but not tried as arrived late, remember this is a Indian restaurant with a English twist.

United KingdomContinental breakfast was minimal and had only a limited selection. Only a minor criticism.( I'm not a lover of cooked breakfast.) It wouldn't put me off staying again. I couldn't plug in my hairdryer near to a mirror. Needs a luggage rack in the room.
Very spacious comfortable room. All staff very friendly. Had a meal in their Indian restaurant which was excellent. Would definitely go again.

United KingdomSadly the restaurant wasn't open the night we were there - a shame because the menu looked exciting. The bathroom was a little too warm for us, and we didn't manage to turn the heat off - though the bedroom temperature was fine.
The room was large, clean, comfortable and actually understatedly beautiful: modern but working well with the lovely old stained glass windows, and distinctive but restful. The bed was really comfortable. We overlooked the road, but the glazing kept the noise at bay. Downstairs as well the decor was excellent, spacious and blending modern and traditional with a combined British, European and Indian feel. (For an Indian restaurant in an old English building.) Staff were friendly and helpful. Would absolutely stay again.

United KingdomWhen we arrived we was told we could check in at 3pm onwards, there was no sign which entrance to use everything seemed to be locked no lights on, at 3.25 we still couldnt get in eventually my husbnad found the chef from the kitchen and let us wait in the bar, the manager arrived 3.35pm and said so sorry the traffic was really bad, i said i had come all the way from Essex, when eventually got in the room the bed didn't seem to be level the right side seemed to dip the pillows were very soft, there was cobweb above the bed on the ceiling. Their was a couple of lamps in the room by the bed they didn't seem to work we did try all the light switches.
We loved our room, the bathroom was excellently styled. The downstairs was decorated absolutely beautiful. The staff was amazing. In the room you couldn't hear the traffic, the curtains in the room blocked out the head lights. Food was amazing the Indian dinner was stunning and the breakfast was so hot and tasty. Thank you we will be coming again very soon.

United KingdomOnly to be really picky but there were a few marks on the bed cover, almost as if they had been caught on machinery (they were black marks). The mattress was a little lumpy. We stayed in room 9 which backed onto the back of the kitchen. Every now and then the sound of a generator or maybe a fan would go off which was a little distracting but not enough to cause a massive disturbance.
The hotel was clean and comfortable. The staff were welcoming on arrival and explained everything well, they even showed us to our room. The Indian food in the pub was really good, there was a 10% off voucher in the room to use on the bill and the breakfast was lovely too. The location was excellent as we went to a wedding at Shottle Hall which was only a 10 minute drive down the road.

United KingdomTold when we got there Sunday there would be no hot breakfast on the Monday as they are closed which was fine. Came down Tuesday and no breakfast was offered 😞 disappointing as had such good reviews. Room on the back of hotel was a little noisy with generators on the back from the kitchen and was glad of the kitchen closed on the Monday as the smell of food was strong. Room was a little stuffy too. With the hotel being quite empty it would of been nice to be put in a room less noisy on the front with windows you could open.
Clean rooms, comfy pillows, lovely location nice decor.
