Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe hotel is so stunning and in such a serene area. And the restaurant is even more amazing. Please if you plan to stay over at this property make sure to eat a meal at their bar/restaurant. The wood baked pizzas are just insanely good and so is all the other food there and especially the ambiance… we were so impressed by everything. The room was comfortable and had everything that we needed from a very comfy bed to a quiet atmosphere. The breakfast was simply incredible. My husband had a full English breakfast and I like to eat an omelette but even though that wasn’t on the menu they especially made it for me and it was just beyond tasty. Thank you so much to all the staff at The Stump. This has been such a lovely stay.

AustraliaEverything! The rooms are clean, comfortable and cosy. The restaurant and outdoor beer garden were perfect spots for a wine and beer (we had a sunny afternoon) , then a beautiful dinner. The food was excellent. We had Italian style pizza, potatoes (order them - they are a specialty), and a fresh rocket salad. Nice wine list and a good range of beers. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful (particularly when we had a car issue).

United KingdomEnjoyed our stay with no complaints.
Lovely room with roll top bath in room and very nice large modern shower room. Excellent comfy bed with quality bedding. Great nights sleep. Went into the pub for an early drink when we arrived, excellent service from Kieran behind bar. Staff happy for us to pinch a reserved table in front of open fire while we had our drinks. So many places are uptight about this but not The Stump. Interior was a lot less commercial than I expected which was great, very rustic but smart. Dinner was lovely with great pizzas, sides and service from a lovely girl. Breakfast had great quality, plentiful ingredients on full English and really nicely cooked, though we did comment that it would have been nice to have some toast while we waited or possibly a continental table to serve yourself. No fruit, cereal or pastries offered, though there was a house granola on menu amongst cooked items. This was the only slight negative but didn’t detract from our stay.

United KingdomOther guests slamming the doors in order to close them, only realised day of leaving how to close quietly. Remote didn't work well with tv, couldn't get half channels as expected. Menu could cater for pub classic meals and be less pricey.
The room was clean, quiet, considering next to the pub. Towels changed every day, fresh bottled water and tea/coffee. Breakfast was lovely as were the staff. Heating nice and warm as weather still alittle chilly in April.

United KingdomThe pub is busy during the evening so booking a table is essential. Taxis in the local area are surprisingly expensive if you are used to Uber.
Lovely pub with separate buildings housing the guest rooms. Beautiful outside seating with pots and planters. Food menu simple but delicious.

United KingdomThere was absolutely nothing we didn't like. The only possible downside was that our room had no wardrobe or drawer space for our clothes.
The Stump is in a good location. It is right next to the main road but traffic couldn't be heard from our room. The Italian menu in the pub is amazing & made the best pizza we'd ever eaten! There was a lovely, cosy feel throughout. All staff are super friendly & helpful.

United KingdomWe could have stayed longer.
Our stay at The Stump was very good; met all our requirements, but was too brief to judge whether it merits the very top grade.. We were attending a wedding, so were on the premises quite briefly but your staff were very accommodating with our late comings and goings. We would use the Stump again.
