Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United Kingdomen-suite bathroom is a must for me. I had a very nice private bathroom to myself but had to go out to the creaky landing to use it
quaint well decorated with character, comfortable, cosy pub, friendly staff

United KingdomWe didn’t manage to get the TV working… but also didn’t ask, so no doubt it was user error. Room was beautiful… but was jealous of the Cromwell room as we walked past its open doorway!
Location was great and the real ale was very tasty. Sadly no evening meal, but there were a few places nearby. Issue with the shower was dealt with quickly and effectively. Stayed in the house next door… all very high end rooms. Rooms above the pub much smaller

United KingdomThe Henry Martin room does not have an en-suite bathroom, but does have your own bathroom across the passageway. Found this a little inconvenient. especially being elderly & slightly disabled. Three flights of stairs to our room but being an old property was to be expected. Had to go next door to the busy bar to get fresh milk which wasn’t very practical..suggested they leave long life milk in the room with the tea etc.
Lovely old pub in prime location opposite the castle with excellent high standard accommodation next door in Ashbourne house. Great pub for beer lovers & good breakfast. Definitely the place to go for listening to music.. heard two excellent bands on the Saturday night & Sunday afternoon. Would recommend & hope to go back again.

United KingdomMinor point: Could do with blackout blinds in the room, however this may detract from the theme.

United KingdomA room service request was overlooked but not a massive problem anyway, we could have asked for a teabag & some milk but it didn't matter to us as we were due to go down to breakfast anyway.
Olde Worlde pub, the staff were excellent, nothing was too much trouble. Nice bar and selection of drinks reasonably priced with a lovely beer garden. Breakfast was amazing, superb quality, and can't fault it. Everyone was friendly & welcoming, a lovely stay. Live music is advertised, and ran as advertised with plenty of warning in the booking process. It is a pub which some other guests failed to grasp so you can expect some noise but it was very minimal. It was a bit lively on Saturday but with live music it's going to be. It's great so see an old pub so busy & popular.

United KingdomAlthough we were aware there would be 'music' on Saturday and Sunday we did not anticipate the loudness. It was not just loud but ear splittingly loud. Our room was directly above the area where the group were playing. The room seemed to act as an amplifier.
The Three Tuns is in an ideal situation - next to the castle and close to the river. The pub itself is charming. The breakfast was really good. The staff were very friendly.

United KingdomThe windows at back were so close to smoking area we could not have open. Thankfully a quieter weekday evening otherwise would have be loud and worse.
Breakfast was very good. A bonus to have dog friendly room that had facilities to have some food in room and wash up.

United KingdomThis is such a tiny, tiny gripe. The room had a coffee maker and kettle, with a couple of coffee pods and a few herbal teas. We would have loved some English Breakfast or something included (although the liquorice and peppermint tea bag was a revelation!)
A really warm welcome awaited us as we were checked into the Cronwell, one of the pub's deluxe rooms in the next building. The room itself was so, so comfortable and the pub a great spot, with live music on the Sunday evening and a great atmosphere. For breakfast, you filled out a form the night before, choosing the various elements you wanted served up at a time you set between 7-9.30 and the quality of the food was great, again served by helpful, super-friendly staff. We will be back.

SwitzerlandIf I had one issue it would be that the full English breakfast was a little dry and bacon really over cooked for the 2 breakfasts I had.

United KingdomWhat a brilliant place to stay. A wonderful change from the usual cut & paste hotel rooms everywhere else. And the location couldn't be better in the heart of Chepstow. Food is amazing, drink is fabulous and the staff are all super friendly. If you're looking for somewhere to stay that's full of character and offers the warmest of welcomes, then look no further!

United KingdomDoesn't serve food in the evening but there is a very good Italian restaurant just down the road. It was very quiet when we stayed on a Monday night but it might not be when they have live music at the weekend.

United KingdomIf I hadn't been very tired after walking more than 16 miles, the noise from the bar below would have kept me awake. The staff were mostly very friendly, except for one who was somewhat brusque.
Well-located. Room and bathroom were quaint, with beams and old wooden floors, yet very well equipped. Loads of character.
