Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomWhile the wine was greatly appreciated, a small bottle of milk in the fridge is a must. Also to lift the chapel to this price point a small welcome hamper showcasing some Northumberland fayre would be a lovely touch. Need robes to be provided for the hot tub or at least mention in listing they are not provided.
Beautiful furnishings, linens and really comfy beds. Hot tub was great too. Shower pressure really good. Well equipped kitchen with tea coffee and sugar provided.

United KingdomNothing at all
It was a perfect quaint and quirky property in an amazing setting We lived how the owners had renovated the place and still kept it original with a modern twist

United KingdomThe building was unique and really great to stay at, between the rustic entrance and incredible garden views, everything about the property was top class. There is a good amount of space for 4 people, it size was more comparable to 6 person properties I have stayed at in the past. Location wise it was very easy to get to with good parking, we used it to visit Hadrian's wall and found it perfect for this.

United KingdomThe property felt very ‘business like’ and not very homely compared to many properties we have stayed in. Just last week we stayed in another property that felt as if it was someone’s home as it had every amenity you could ever need or imagine, but we never got that vibe here. The potential of a beautiful building, with lovely views, a nice hot tub and being in a great county - is amazing. However it felt as though perhaps these great features are heavily relied on for guests’ experience and meant that there was a lack of focus elsewhere as elements felt a little tired. For example, the metal chairs outside were very rusty, the barbecue was cheap, full of ash and also rusting. The clothes horse barely stands up, there was one disposable dish cloth for both washing up and wiping sides down, barely any washing up liquid left when we arrived. The lawn wasn’t mowed and the various bits of grassland to the sides of the property (not the fields that obviously don’t belong to the property) are overgrown with nettles and long grass. A bit of TLC there would be good as it looks a bit scruffy. These last few points are relatively trivial individually and we’re not worthy of being raised to the owners whilst there, but reflect our overall feeling that the property is a little unloved. We booked for 3 people, yet were only 2 bath towels provided. I did text the host about this and he advised it must have been a glitch in the booking process, but it would be impossible to provide another towel until the day we checked out. This was a little disappointing and there was no apology, and all he suggested was to use a bath mat to dry our 3 year old… not what you expect really for a luxury property. Finally, it’s on quite a busy road so we were woken up by traffic a couple of mornings, which spoilt the countryside feel.
- The hot tub is great although overly foamy when the jets are on; perhaps too many chemicals in it as hot tubs are not normally like this - The view from the hot tub (back of property) is great - As it’s a converted chapel it has character, the high beams are a lovely feature - The beds were pretty comfy - The bath is good though a little small - We were allowed to check in slightly early though in the end we didn’t as we went into Hexham.
