Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomCar park by hotel is council run so need to buy parking ticket if there between 10 am and 5 pm. Not the responsibility of the hotel,so it's not a complaint, just made things a bit inconvenient.
Friendly staff, food was very good, and a great location across the road from the Ironbridge.

United KingdomThe window has a huge draft and the room was very cold even with the heating on full. Found a black hair on the clean towel which is never good.
The room was very fresh, new bathroom and the shower was lovely.

United KingdomThe central heating wasn't working so we had to use a small fan. Not ideal. Didn't realise there was no parking facilities. Didn't use the wardrobe as there was lots of dust in the bottom
The staff were lovely, really friendly. The food was excellent, both evening meal and breakfast. The bed and pillows were really comfy. I would stay there again as long as the heating was working. Great location

United KingdomOur room was a little tired, but as the owner has only been in place for a few months, his plans will improve the hotel. A fine old building in an excellent location

United KingdomThe room had a couple of minor defects but nothing that would stop me staying again.
Had a lovely overnight stay at the Tontine, ideal for a riverside walk and exploring the village. Service was exemplary and the breakfast was enormous and beautifully cooked. Excellent. Special mention to Carly for accommodating our request to have breakfast in the sunshine and being limitless in your helpfulness, you are a credit to the hotel and to the wider hospitality industry. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

United KingdomBed wasn't the most comfortable.
The staff were very friendly and attentive and the breakfast menu was one of the best I have seen and cooked to perfection. Really great selection if you fancied something other than a fry up, and my partner's fry up was excellent as well.

United KingdomThe great central location means you will need earplugs should you want to sleep through the night. Not at all the fault of the establishment. The building is full of character and might seem a little tatty to some. But everything works.
Great location in the middle of everything, with friendly informative staff. Lots to see in the area and some lovely walks in the surrounding area. Parking can be free if you are willing to move the car around.

United KingdomNo food in the bar on the Sunday night when we were there, which was a shame, but there are other places to eat so it wasn't too much of a problem. No parking although if you are lucky there is a small amount of pay and display nearby. I would recommend doing what we did and driving around to the large pay and display car park on the other side of the bridge and walking back over the bridge - it's only a couple of minutes walk.
Brilliant location, right opposite the iron bridge - my room had a view straight across the bridge. Friendly staff and comfortable bed in a nice room. It could do with a little TLC but the owner told me they are gradually working their way through the hotel and updating it as they can. Really nice old fashioned bar with no tv (which is a bonus as far as I'm concerned) with some nice beers.

United KingdomOn arrival we were asked for our credit card details which wasn’t advertised at time of booking; which made us feel very uncomfortable and concerned about our personal financial information. Expensive and inedible breakfast; milk was off, no continental option as promised and £12.00 per person! The cleaning standards were not up to scratch, lots of cobwebs and dust in a number of places. Very tired property but as we were told a work in process. We were in an unrenovated room, hence the cheaper price.
Historical building but needs a lot more work doing to it.

United KingdomThe bedrooms are in the process of being renovated. Some bedrooms have already been done to a superb standard, whilst others wait in the wings. Thank you Steve and Cameron for the guided tour of the hotel, you are doing a fantastic job in just a short time, can’t wait to see the place once you have finished. I must give Cameron a big shout out for the excellent food he cooked for us in the restaurant, it was amazing.

United KingdomEn suite facilities were fine overall, but some signs of mould on the shower unit. A toilet brush in the bathroom would also be advisable!
Excellent location: I particularly enjoyed the view of the bridge from my window. A comfortable room with ample bedding - ensuite facilities were fine and it was quiet on both nights I stayed. Parking was tricky (between 10am and 5pm especially), but this is an inevitably reality of staying in a hotel so centrally located in a World Heritage site town!
