Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomMy only tiny, tiny gripe is that only one side of the bed has a socket for charging a phone. An extension lead to service the other side would be amazing.
We were looking for somewhere quiet and relaxing from which we could do a long walk, preferably ending in a great pub, and The Tool Shed was the most perfect fit. It was really well connected by car and has loads of public footpaths to take you on gorgeous trips through the countryside. We chose a 7 mile walk to the Sixpenny Brewery in Cranborne and it was glorious! We found wild garlic behind the church in Wimborne St Giles and saw hares and kingfishers along the way. The house itself is in an absolutely idyllic setting with gorgeous views (and an adorable dog). Tracey was so accommodating and communicative in the run up, but left us to enjoy the stay once we'd arrived which was perfect. The property was cosy but surprisingly spacious with a large bedroom and living/dining area. Really comfortable bed, and a good shower. The breakfast items and general essentials provided were great, and the galley kitchen had everything we needed. On our way home we popped by the Cranborne Chase cider shack (5mins drive) to get some delicious Dorset cider to take home as well - highly recommended.

United KingdomA couple of spiders/cobweb, but they too were charming and added to the rustic feeling.
Loved the log burner, the decor, rustic feeling overall, the quietness, and the views. Loved the special care shown the owners by having a bottle of Proseco in the fridge and fresh flowers.

United KingdomNothing was perfect.
A stop through to relax, it was very quite. Probably one of my favourite places I have stayed in some time. Bedroom was so comfortable and a nice bit of food and relaxing by a fire is what I needed. Perfect to switch off. I would hope to stay there again and do the walk out the back area.

United KingdomThe only tiny negative is the tap in the kitchen is a little slow but that's really the only thing. Don't go expecting a full kitchen as there is it a microwave and a stove top but for us that was more than adequate.
Quite possibly one if the nicest places we have ever stayed in. The Tool Shed is absolutely beautiful, comfortable and has everything you need to make it a lovely stay. The location is stunning, so peaceful. Would definitely go back.

JerseyCould have a better signposted entrance maybe! As two friends travelling for an event it was a shame the property couldn’t offer single bed option but we managed. Other than that it was lovely, thank you.
Plenty of space to relax, decor was in keeping with the location and age of the building. Host was very helpful & ensured we had everything we could need and more, for our stay. Very friendly dog and beautiful peaceful location. Keeping this accommodation on my “ stay again” list. Thank you so much, just very sad that we couldn’t stay longer.

AustraliaNot a thing.
Out in a rural area so shop before you arrive as there are good cooking facilities and a BBQ. Lovely views all around. This is a house really. Large bedroom with wardrobe, chairs, lamps, lovely fabrics. Kitchen has a small fridge, single burner cooktop, micro/grill/oven all-in-one, coffee pod machine, tea making. Toaster. Croissants and jams for breakfast. All is as shown. Huge Lounge as shown, dining table. Just a lovely place to stay for a week if you can afford it. Hosts were very nice people and have done a terrific job outfitting this home-away-from-home. So many small considerations are much appreciated when you are on the road and too many places offer only the bare minimum. Thanks to you both David and Tracey.
