Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe mattress could have been more firm, but I guess this is a matter of personal taste. No complimentary toiletries are provided, which may or may not be an issue. Not much space to put your stuff on, no chairs, no drawers. Rooms facing he street may be a bit noisy, even allowing for a bit of dampening effect provided by the double window. There is no toilet at room level; you will have to either go upstairs or downstairs (this applies specifically to my room at the time). No clear/immediate idea of where toilets are: a map on the back of the door would be useful (isn't it also mandatory for safety?)
The location is perfect: in the very centre of the historic town and within reach of all major attractions. A ten-minute walk will bring you to the Ashmolean Museum in one direction or the Radcliffe Camera in the opposite direction. The staff was very friendly, and I managed to get in all right, even if there was no staff on-site, simply by talking to the guy on WhatsApp (using the complimentary Wi-fi). The room was cosy and decently furnished, with an abundance of pillows. Linens and towels were fresh and in very good nick. The little washing basin in the room was quite handy and clean, although poorly illuminated. The carpet was clean all around the bed, but not underneath it, with objects left there by previous occupants. The complimentary breakfast set in the room was useful and comprehensively furnished overall.

ItalyThe bathroom wasn't per se dirty or anything like that, but you could tell it was about to become a mess. Mold starting to grow on the ceiling of the shower and such. Nothing that would make me complain honestly, just quite on the verge of starting to become one of those problems. Very clean for the rest.
Super old English household, with super low roofing - both good and bad, I wish I had known before hand cause my friend had to walk looking down (1.85cm). But incredibly pretty and in an amazing spot. Best bed I slept on during a trip ever and very clean, except from a few small mold spots in the bathroom.

Czech RepublicI did not bother me, but the stairs are realky steep and some people could have problems. On the other hand, steep stairs are everywhere in Britain and this is old house in old part of town
Perfect location, calm. Oldish or unpolished style, which some people mention was no problem. Bastion really nice.

ItalyWe had a shared bathroom which was fine but we ended up sharing it with guests from 2 two floors (seemed around 6 rooms to just one bathroom) which meant having to wait a lot for it to be free. Not very convenient. Appreciated having a sink in our room though. Hand soap in both room and bathroom was finished.
Fantastic location right in the centre of the city, comfy beds, kettle and tea/hot chocolate selection and water bottles provided in the room. Shampoo and shower gel provided in the bathroom.

United KingdomWe were on the top floor of the property and there were a lot of steep stairs. This property wouldn't be suitable for someone with limited mobility or bad knees!
The location of the property was amazing. Right in the centre of Oxford but on a quiet side street. As we were in the city to attend an event, it was super convenient. There was no breakfast at the property but so many breakfast places in walking distance.

United KingdomWhile the property and location were great I would advise caution if you are traveling by car. I booked expecting little parking however it was worse than expected, please do your research if this is a deal breaker. There was no parking in the immediate area, small dead end roads are common. We had to park ten to fifteen minuets walk away in an expensive car park and get up very early to move the car to another carpark to avoid the inner city clean air tariffs. We also had to leave early to avoid this when leaving. None of this is the fault of the property but it is something to keep in mind if like us you are traveling with a lot of luggage or even children please be aware.
I'm a sucker for historical properties and this was a delightful find. The room was small for a double but we managed perfectly well even through last minuet ballgown alterations. It was comfortable and cozy with a beautiful view of part of the university. The street was pretty quiet at night and while i'm not usually keen on shared bathrooms the facilities were in good condition. I would like to stay again just to properly experience the area more and the convenience of staying so central and to get a better feel for the property as a whole. It was also quite funny to hear the local tour guides during the day and the buzz of the students and locals.
