Next time I’d ask for a room which looks over the back as we looked onto the road. It meant we couldn’t open our window as we feared it’d be too noisy.

Unfortunately my room faced the road and I found the traffic noise to be very disturbing. Although the volume of traffic overnight was less it did still continue. Heavy lorries started thundering by from 0630, each one causing the whole building to shake. Motorbikes roaring past at high speed from 0800 Sunday morning. There are other rooms facing away from the road and I would request one of these for a future stay

The shower is over the bath and both the bed and bath were very high - O.K. for us but older customers would struggle to get in and out (particularly the bath). Pity no biscuits in the room although did have nice tea and coffee cafetière. Location was nice but our room was next to the fast (60mph) road, so noise and fast traffic was unfortunate (dog didn't like walking between car park and room/ restaurant).

Nice rural location overlooking fields. Courtyard room very nice with everything to make you feel comfortable. Lovely toiletries and fab breakfast. Evening meals very nice also. Room very clean and comfortable.

Would have liked ordinary cereals and fruit juice as part of the breakfast choice. Also ordinary wholemeal rather than sourdough toast which is far too hard anyway. The cooked breakfasts were fine and really delicious but no smoked salmon. Also no spinach which rather negates the eggs florentine, although mushrooms and tomatoes were offered instead.

Location excellent and staff always helpful and accommodating. Ease of parking. Views wonderful.

When I first arrived I was put in a room that felt like I was on the road… so noisy after requesting a quiet room. But team were very helpful and found me another room that was perfect- thank you!

The option of small plates was non existence, and the lay out of our room was bizarre, the wash basin was in the bedroom, and provided no privacy,

The views wrote outstanding, the cask Ales were very good, ad was the meals.

Wifi connection wasn't great. Breakfast was served a little too late for an early starters (but I'm being hyper critical here) & I'm sure the staff would've been happy to knock something up for me had I asked (based on how helpful all staff where)

We had an extractor fan/boiler next to our room (room 1) this was turning on and off all night. The dinner was lovely but service was very slow and we didn't get one of the starters we ordered. There was a lack of restaurant management and co-ordination between the service and kitchen staff.

I think the kitchen forgot to turn off the extractor fan that night and it rumbled away all night outside of our room.

Excellent hotel about 1 mile outside of Petworth, outstanding staff, great food , nice bar, all dog friendly, plenty of car parking, room well appointed, impressed.

We found the bed a little hard and there was an annoying emergency exit light above the door to our room which illuminated it with a dull green light after dark.

Bed was extremely uncomfortable as were the pillows. Woken up at 11pm the first night from bottles being thrown in the bin by staff (appreciate they need emptying however this was not nice to be woken to!) also the following morning woken at 7am by bin collections (again appreciate this needs doing but I think the bins need relocating so not right next to guest accommodation). Our room was also next to the hot water heater or something so this inside the room coming on and off was rather noisy too - not ideal for a relaxing stay!
