Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThere was nothing that we disliked but the showerhead was a little annoying. As you had a wait for the water to warm up, the water pressure was at times to much and it caused the head to lift up and shower the bathroom. Might suggest the cleaning team look up and clear the cobwebs though.
Location was exactly as required, within the village permitting us to meander and enjoy the facilities with the car being parked out front on the car park. The Bed was huge, I lost the Mrs it was that wide. The first night we ate in the hotel, the food was tasty and the service very good. Breakfast the following morning was as expected, the home made granola, yoghurts and fruit set us up for the day but the 2nd and 3rd mornings, the offerings had diminished but was still sufficient.

United KingdomI had a single room which was fine for one person and the shower in the en-suite bathroom was also great, albeit a bit small. My only gripe is that the sink was so small I couldn’t even clean my teeth let alone wash my face! The glass shelf directly above the sink didn’t help!
A lovely hotel with lots of character in a great location. The food was great.

United KingdomIt was very windy during the night and the window (in Room 3) rattled alarmingly. However, it was easily fixed with a piece of cardboard. But perhaps thought should be given to upgrading the all windows, which are becoming a little tired. This is purely constructive criticism, in no way did it affect the enjoyment of our stay.
Boscastle is a very dog friendly place and the Wellington Hotel is no exception. Our dog was provided with a bed, a toy, treats, bisuits and even a can of dog beer! The staff were exceptionally friendly and efficient. The room was clean comfortable and everything worked well. We have stayed here twice before and the high standard has been maintained. The breakfast was very good and evening meal (steak) very good indeed. The chef certainly knows what he's doing.

United KingdomTurn the hot water on earlier! Tepid showers first thing in the morning do mean that you tend to save water, but I don't really enjoy having to channel my inner Wim Hof.
Perfect location for exploring the north coast. The hotel is a very old building and accommodations/expectations should be adjusted accordingly. A great venue, exceptional staff, good food & very good value for money.

United KingdomI am 6ft 4 inches tall and found the shower in room 10 rathers small i.e. when I was washing my feet, when bending down, I nearly head-butted the side of the shower!!
Breakfast and dinner were both superb as were the location and atmosphere. Staff were great too esp.the young gentleman at reception. All the people working there were very kind and professional i.e. the ladies serving dinner and breakfast, the girl behind the bar and the lady we chatted to who was cleaning rooms in the morning. All 10 out of 10.

United KingdomNOT APPLICABLE. MY FRIEND AND I COULD NOT FIND ANY FAULT WITH THE WELLINGTON HOTEL. IN FACT, WE ARE PLANNING TO RETURN NEXT YEAR. WE HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT.
EXCELLENT LOCATION RIGHT IN THE HEART OF BOSCASTLE. WE HAVE STAYED AT THE WELLINGTON HOTEL BEFORE AND LIKED IT VERY MUCH TO STAY AGAIN. FOOD EXCELLENT AND STAFF ARE FRIENDLY AND VERY HELPFUL. IT’S WITHIN WALKING DISTANCE OF THE HARBOUR AND CLOSE TO THE WITCHES MUSEUM. A RANGE OF NICHE SHOPS TO SUIT ALL TASTES: FROM CRYSTAL SHOPS, BOUTIQUES SPECIALISING IN CASUAL & OUTDOOR WEAR & A CRAFT SHOP. ALSO, A RANGE OF PUBS AND RESTAURANTS TO CHOOSE FROM. YOU DEFINITELY NEED A CAR TO GET TO BOSCASTLE AS IT IS OFF THE BEATEN TRACK. IF YOU WANT TO GO FURTHER AFIELD, 20 MINUTES AWAY IS TINTAGEL.
