How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

I had a very comfortable room. Unfortunately I was not well and could not eat the breakfast but the staff were great …giving me paracetamol and water instead of breakfast!

Decent breakfast and location was reasonable for us cycling the Rebellion Way. Cycles could be stored in a secure shed. Evening dinner was excellent!

The location was great, 20min walk to the centre, if you don't mind the hill. The breakfast was good, and plentiful. The staff were pleasant and friendly.

Bathroom was looking a bit 'tired' with rusty rails and fittings. I think they are having a refurbishment though so I'm sure this will be addressed. Otherwise my room was very good and not noisy even though it was close to the bar area.
Breakfast and meals were superb and staff were really helpful in meeting my specific requests. Landlady and the bar ladies all lovely and very considerate in changing my room to a more 'accessible' one even though I hadn't requested this. I was made to feel very welcome.

Bit disappointed that there was no shower gel.
Extremely friendly staff. Fantastic breakfast quickly served with good quality food. Good menu, pizzas tasty. Good location for city centre. Comfortable room with good bed and shower.

As above and the public areas were tired and neglected. It was very up hill.
Some of the staff were very nice and helpful. However what I presume was the lady owner,she never introduced herself, could not make an effort to talk nor a thank you. No way to run any business. No wonder pubs fail to survive. Air con in room was a blessing.

Wi-Fi not so good
Large quiet bedroom with comfortable soft mattress. Receptionist/barmaid/chef/cleaner (same person) very good. Good evening meal,excellent breakfast

Quiet location, Room was in good condition and had far enough space. 10 min walk to the city centre. Parking situation easy. Cooked breakfast was good.

Bathroom was a little dated but perfectly fine. Fresh towels provided.
Room was spacious, clean. Amenities in room were great. Coffee maker, fridge, complimentary water provided. Had a comfortable sleep. Breakfast was delicious. Catered for a variety of dietary requirements. Unexpectedly there was an Electric Vehicle charger. Rate was very reasonable too. Staff were very friendly and looked after us really well.

The shower head is room 3 needed a bit of an upgrade :)
The breakfast was amazing, literally cooked to my specifications, the landlady and bar lady were fantastically friendly, look forward to going back. Great location, walked to Riverside to go to the cinema and into the town centre

The bathroom is very big and could have accommodated a much bigger shower - we are above average sized humans and the shower was very small and dated.
Lovely location above the city of Norwich - a 20 minute walk down the steepest hill in the city, and we chose to this back from the market square as it was a very steep hill to climb on a very hot day! Cost £7 to get back up. The room was big and comfortable and the breakfast was delicious and varied in options. Staff were friendly and accommodating.

The attic room should have some highlights or something in the wall so you don’t bump against it with your head all the time.
