Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomWe had a dog barking in the room next to us. Not sure if dogs are allowed in all rooms or just certain sections of the hotel.

United KingdomI was shocked to find no hand grips for the shower / bath. It was positively dangerous getting in or out. My career was in elderly care and there are excellent looking quality products from companies like Drench which could be mounted to the left of the mural. After telling reception of my concerns I was told that others had mentioned it before. I’m amazed that there has not been a serious accident and suggests that no one in the hotel has responsibility for health and safety that covers the needs of your guests. Frankly you should be ashamed of yourselves. It’s obvious that you never get your own staff to spend a night or two in your rooms - particularly anyone over 60 - though a 25 year old could also fall. Go and spend a night where someone cares - maybe travel lodge or premier inn.
They got it just right- very relaxing and meeting today’s needs in food and comfort. Other owners could have made it rather pompous

United KingdomDoors are very loud when closing, not the hotels fault as I know they have to be self closing for fire reg but other people staying arrived back at 4:00 in the morning and all you could hear were the doors open and closing and people being generally loud and inconsiderate. Not the hotels fault but did ruin our sleep
Lovely big room with lots of light. Very clean and tidy. Breakfast was very good with lots on offer. A little pricey but unlimited so we ate our worth. Hotel has lots of history which is lovely to read about

United KingdomDoors were heavy so could hear them closing through the night in other rooms and there was no blind on the bathroom window which would of been nice but I'm having to nitpick!
Lovely clean hotel in Bath centre. Bar was great and well stocked and staff incredibly friendly and helpful. Parking was a faff due to a road closure but again staff quickly offered a map to assist. Shower awesome!!

United KingdomAt the time of our visit, road closures made car park access complicated. The email advising this beforehand could have been helped with a copy of the map that was then given to us as we checked in.

United KingdomThe sound proofing could be improved; I could hear the couple in the bedroom next to ours speak when they were in the bathroom, I could hear every word. Although clean there were a few things that stood out such as a lot of dust on the stair railings, and also quite dirty window panels in my bedroom: there was a lot of black mould caused by condensation, a weekly damp flannel wipe would get rid of that and prevent the window panels from rotting.
Very comfortable bed and great linen good size room Welcoming staff Excellent location clean

United KingdomI was charmed and delighted with exterior appearance of the hotel that exuded a powerful sense of 18th century Bath. However, the decorative style in the bedrooms was 'moderne' bordering on kitsch. Why oh why in a classic 18th century building was the chair, in front of a synthetic table, made of shiny black plastic? I had expected the hotel to reflect the delight of its period in appropriate furnishings. Bath attracts visitors because of its scintillating history not because of its attempts to keep up with the ever changing edicts of transient current fashion.

United KingdomSee above…..
I felt that things had changed a bit since our last stay there in Nov22 which had been exceptional. Surprised that we were charged service in the bar when we had three drinks in the first night. Also one of the rooms was booked through Booking.com and had been transferred from a booking which I had to cancel last July. When I booked the second room it was direct with the hotel in Nov/Dec. No one mentioned to me at the time that I could have booked both rooms that way and cancelled my booking.com reservation which was at a higher rate. I therefore ended up paying £70 more than was necessary , so would have appreciated being told this beforehand.
