I was disappointed with the food. I had dinner in the bar/restaurant on my first night and breakfast two mornings. The first morning, my scrambled egg and smoked salmon were delicious. The second morning, it was terrible to the point where I couldn't eat it. It tasted of fried onions. I wondered if it was a different chef.

Excellent location, good value for money. The room was a good size with a comfortable bed and great tea and coffee facilities.

When we got to hotel we had received an upgrade on our room. The balcony the upgrade offered was a nice surprise. The bar and restaurant located in the hotel was convenient for when we wanted to have a meal and a cocktail. All staff were friendly and helpful. Front desk reserved taxis for us and offered suggestions for places to visit.

Every Friday and Saturday the bar downstairs has live music until 12.00. I had requested a quiet room and I could hear the music blasting through the windows.

    The location was very good.

Breakfast in the bar was a bit odd, and airco made it too cold in the morning.

Location is great, very nice and lively bar for the evenings. Room was very spacious.

Some small things needed TLC like the broken shower screen - it came off whilst we were there and we needed to hook it back on. Also one plug socket hanging off the wall

Lovely hotel in a good location - staff were all really friendly and helpful during our stay. Very comfy bed and good facilities.

The only thing I would say that it would be helpful to have a grab rail for the bath as for a short person like myself the bath is quite high for getting into the shower.

The location was great. Easy access to Princes Street and Edinburgh Castle. Breakfast was excellent

The mattress was far too soft for our liking (of course just personal preference but did impact our sleep!). All the decor looked a little tired and dated and for part of our stay the lift wasn't working. I had one incident where housekeeping entered my room when they weren't scheduled to, interrupting what I was doing and they were really quite brisk and unfriendly to me which felt like an invasion of privacy, but when I told other hotel staff they were very kind and assured me it shouldn't have happened and that conversations would be had with the relevant people.

The staff were really friendly and attentive. I had an issue during my stay and the staff I informed were so kind and helpful. The bar downstairs is a place we've been regularly and love so the discount you get when staying in the hotel was very welcome. The hotel was lovely and quiet so felt very private and the location is just fantastic.

The bathroom got very steamy every time we’d shower and there was 0 ventilation, the whole room would get super humid and we tried to air it as best as we could but it was a headache. The room itself was very dark and facing a loud back door of restaurant street (lots of containers, deliveries, glass rambling).

Friendly staff, great location (we got everywhere by foot), restaurant and bar downstairs of the hotel, a ton of other shops and restaurants in the area, easy check out, luggage storage for free, guest slippers and complimentary tea+coffee

Was a bit noisy in the morning but that cant be helped

The rooms were cool, love that they were named after famous Scottish actors and musicians! Very central to everything we wanted to see and the staff gave me a little birthday surprise in my room and upgraded us, very kind!

Check in time 3pm...and not one minute earlier. I've had better experiences all over Edinburgh. Lift out of order when room is on the top floor is not ideal

Perfect location for getting to/from the airport or train stations (Waverly or Haymarket) and exploring both Old and New Town. Clean little room with tea and coffee making facility, iron and ironing board. All rooms sre named after Scottish celebrities...from footballers to actors..which gives it a fun touch.

As I booked just the day before I arrived, the price is more expensive than before. Good suggestion is give to who will travel to Edinburgh is book it early! And seperate breakfast will be £15 for one person. It will be fantastic if the price can become more worthy.

The location is fantastic. It's only 5mins walk to priness street and 10mins to Waverly Bridge. The room is clean and neat. But a little small actually. The wifi is nice which I love.
