Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

New ZealandThe floors in our bedroom accommodation were very noisy. They squeaked and creaked making it impossible to move around at night without disturbing each other. The floor itself appeared scuffed and worn. There was a strong smell of industrial strength cleaner in both the corridor and the room upon arrival. This was quite unpleasant and a bit overwhelming, but did at least give a clear indication of cleanliness. There were no available power outlets near the bed. No USB outlet for charging devices, which is a nice bonus we have found at a few other places we have been. The lighting in the bedroom was poor - the window did provide natural light, but as the room was large it did not reach well into the inner part of the room. The bathroom, while modern, seemed to lack a bit of finesse in the finish, but was certainly functional. Breakfast did not meet all of our group's expectations, but was in a pleasant and well lit room. The mushrooms were rather salty, and the porridge also was too salty for my husband. There were good breakfast options, and enough to meet everybody's needs. There were artificial flowers on the breakfast tables. Flowers are nice, and I imagine that artificial ones are easy to maintain and avoid allergies, but I still miss fresh flowers when it is summer. This is of course only a personal preference. My daughter and I usually like to go for a walk in the morning before breakfast, but did not feel that the country road was safe enough to do this.
Staff were very welcoming on arrival, and provided plenty of information. Email contact via Booking.com kept us up to date with what to expect and prompted us to confirm and make reservation for dinner before arrival, and for breakfast when we checked in. Our room was a generous size, and the bathroom was as well. A spa bath in the bathroom was appreciated. Bedroom door felt solid and secure. The bedroom decor was pleasant, although more masculine than feminine. There was a wardrobe and chair, and the TV was a good size and easy to view. Comfortable bed, and the view from the window was of the property itself, which is quite charming. Dinner was in an attractive restaurant on the property, and was well prepared. We enjoyed our meals, which were very tasty and well presented. Drink selection was good. Breakfast was satisfactory, and in an attractive warm toned room. Table service provided. An attractive rural location, and quiet. It is a place I would be happy to recommend.

United KingdomThe only thing with having the dogs is that you really need to have a car as the Inn sits on a busy main road so you can’t walk them direct from the Inn. I had a car so no problem.
Found this little gem of a place on booking.com as I needed a stop with my 2 dogs. Spotlessly clean rooms, great wee garden area for dogs and absolutely wonderful staff. Just 5 miles from St Andrews. The food was outstanding if a little expensive.

United KingdomReturned back at 10.40pm on our 2nd night to find bar locked up and no sign of any staff. Spoiled our expectations of a night cap prior to turning in. Also problem with shower in our newly refurbished en-suite.
Staff were all fantastic. Very helpful and couldn't do enough for us. Had an enjoyable meal in the restaurant on our first evening.

United KingdomIf you have a room located at the very front on the hotel which is very close to the road, traffic noise can be loud, especially when HGV's pass. Rooms located at the rear of the hotel are not affected that much. Wi-Fi signal was poor in the room I stayed in N.o 14.
Very spacious rooms, well appointed, friendly staff. Good quality food. Pleasant atmosphere.

United KingdomVery stiff safety hinges on the doors to our room made it hard work to come in and out when holding anything. Some minor defects in the bathroom needed attention, which I reported to Reception. The room rate was expensive for what it is, but that may be typical of East Fife during the golfing season? We paid less for better appointed hotel rooms in Galloway and Northumbria.
Good spacious room with a wide and comfortable bed, very quiet too. Good breakfast. Very pleasant and helpful staff.

United KingdomThe only issue where the hotel did not fully meet our needs was the lack of grounds to allow us to exercise our small dog who stayed with us.
The staff very very friendly and helpful and went out of their way to ensure we had a great stay. Breakfast was excellent, as good a breakfast as I have had. Obviously freshly cooked to order and now Luke warm from a buffet.
