The smallest conceivable portion of baked beans for breakfast! We all know how little they cost and this portion in a meagre breakfast set the tone. And £113 for B&B - really??

It's a nice pub with good staff but how can they justify these prices? - about £40 per night more than the pub the night before with similar facilities. It really feels like a rip off - so I didn't eat there. The previous pub had Butcombe beer and a better breakfast for £70 and this was £113 with Young's sadly now undrinkable stuff.

This is a gorgeous historic building. Having visited more than two decades ago, it’s lost some of its unreconstructed charm. Nevertheless, it’s a beautiful place and now more comfortable for overnight gas and restaurant diners.

There was some noise from possibly a generator outside. It was manageable with the window closed but might be annoying if wanting to sleep with the window open.

Staff were friendly and attentive. Food was fantastic! Rooms had everything we needed and were spacious, warm and comfortable with a decent shower and lovely toiletries.

Room was a bit noisy, obviously above kitchen fans.

Breakfast was slow but freshly cooked and delicious. Room furnishings dated but fully functional.Overall would stay there again but get a room away from the head of the staircase

The marketing is better than the experience! Lumpy pillows, and a cold room. At dinner, my roast sirloin was served in thick cuts (needed a sharp knife) and was overdone, while the table service was underdone. Although friendly, it was casual resulting in several requests being made which made me feel awkward.

The warm welcome and helpful person on arrival and departure (Mandi). The log fire was great and the dining area was cosy.

We recently had a stay there in a suite and had a lovely hamper for upon arrival but went to have the pringles and someone either eaten them or left from the previous guests and the bottom of the shower the water would not drain away enough so could not have a shower after my wife had one

The easy check in and the food and drink was very good for your money

    Lumpy pillows!

An excellent pub in a lovely rural location. The room was spacious, clean and well equipped! The coffee machine is a lovely touch. Only downside I can see is the pillows are a bit lumpy, but other than that everything we found was perfect and we would definitely come back

Heating in room a bit haphazard with a portable radiator which had lost castors so not stable and air conditioning unit which was a bit noisy.

Friendly helpful staff. Nice cosy atmosphere in the pub. Nice extra touches in the rooms and lovely toiletries. Breakfast was of excellent quality and good choices.

Earplugs would have been welcome as due to it being an old building and a pub it got very loud in the evening (Friday/Saturday) until around 11:30pm. We could hear customers both outside and in.

Beautiful and well appointed room. Very comfortable bed and lovely personal extras in the room. Breakfast was delicious and service was fast.

Would like to eat that steak daily!

Asked what was good on the menu and was told the dry aged steak. Expensive but my goodness- wow! The roomy room with character. The village. This was a halfway overnight stop to Cornwall but a find.

No real ale on tap! 6 pumps out of action due to no gas was the reason given, albeit not until ordered & no towel on pumps to show unavailability Why real ale pumps require gas is beyond me! Chose not to get into a technical discussion Food took an age to arrive for dinner (I think they forgot our order). Got the bottle of wine taken off the bill! Staff openly saying they didn’t have enough staff

Lovely room, beautiful refurbishment Comfy bed & quiet spot
