The staff were very good, in fact very good indeed! The food is also very good indeed!

The hotel is a typical English hotel in terms of deco. A bit dated, but I find that quite "quaint" rather than shabby. Mind you the carpet in our bedroom I would call shabby! Maybe not as clean as it could be, but that said the bed had nice white clean crisp sheets and there were nice white fluffy towels in the bathroom. In fact the bed was super comfortable. Be warned the walls and thin and our adjoining room on the both nights of our stay came in late, and made a lot of noise that woke me up! Not the hotels fault, but the sound proofing is just not there.

The only thing that let it down was the staff naking no effort either from the front of house team or managers to have the simple courtesy to reply to a voicemail message I left them on Saturday afternoon. Not really what I would have expected from a Greene King hotel unit. Worst as I know what their brand standards are too.

Even though it is located on a main road. There is very little traffic noise, this Greene King pub - hotel has plenty of outside seating areas and a nice garden to.

Hair dryer was not available, or readily visible. The curtains were not quite long enough to keep out the bright morning sunshine. That is about all I can think of.

I did not have breakfast, as I was playing in a golf day with breakfast included.

We weren't told upon arrival that the gas in the kitchen wasn't working - it was only when we went to the bar after checking in that the very friendly bar staff informed us, but weren't sure which items from the evening menu wouldn't be available. We enquired if we'd be allowed to bring back a takeaway to our room seeing as the kitchen wasn't fully functioning but again, the staff weren't sure. In the end we did had an evening meal at the Roebuck which was very good. The breakfast however was just average. The room was comfy enough, if a little dated, and could have done with more plug sockets.

Friendly staff, the evening food that was available was tasty and the service was excellent. The vibe was relaxed and comfortable.

State of the bedroom carpets - they are very worn and in need of replacement. Wrinkles could be a trip hazard for elderly guests. The cloth part of the headboard has clothes moths - needs spraying or replacing (room 206).

The rooms are really in need of an update as are the carpets in hallways. The stairs down to our room weren’t the best - didn’t know about stairs.
