How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Was told that I would get a discount on breakfast if I didn’t have my room cleaned and to collect a token from reception. Reception said I didn’t need a token but the the red charged me £18 for breakfast where it would have been £15 at reception. I requested to have my receipt emailed to me and have not received it 4 days later…. Need to improve training fro the reception staff! Not worth paying for the breakfast….

I emailed twice about an extra bed but no reply. As a result, an extra bed was prepared in the room, but I would like them to reply to my email.
Friendly staff, perfect cleaning, convenient location. This is a highly recommended hotel.

Unfortunately the property was under renovation. Some area had old carpet rolls in the halls and painting in some areas.

There was a major bus stop right in front so there was a lot of noise from the street. The shower is in a bathtub which has high sides that are difficult for people with limited mobility. The rooms are not spacious, so it was difficult to find a place to unpack suitcases other than on the bed. There was no one except a receptionist to help us get our luggage up about 10 steps at the entrance.
The location is excellent for the British Museum. The closest Tube station is not too far. The room was kept very clean. It is a no-frills location that is very practical. There is a good grocery store not far away. There are interesting restaurants in the area, especially Turkish, Chinese, and Indian (which we liked). The staff were helpful.

Staff were very good but a requested item did not arrive (we were short a coffee cup) but wasn't a problem.
Good size room, good size bed and comfortable. The location was perfect for our needs. It was quiet (triple glazed?). Nice to have a bar and restaurant on site.

There was nothing to not like!
Love the Thistle Holborn - staff are fab and welcoming, rooms are comfortable and clean, the location is perfect for the West End, Euston and tube stations to reach the rest of London!

We were charged for a breakfast we did not order at all. Luckily I checked my card and was refunded. I wrote the manager an email about it and did not get any response.

Only thing was the pies being still frozen !!
My 2 daughters and I had an evening meal on the Friday evening we all ordered pie and chips sadly all 3 pies were still frozen in the middle so they had to go back !! Once cooked properly they were very nice . The waiter service was excellent he served us throughout our stay so polite and lovely to talk too.

We didn't have much of a view out of the room, just straight onto another tall building but we weren't in the room much as we were out seeing London.
Hotel is well located for walking access to Soho, Covent Garden, British Museum (just round the corner) and the nearby tube station. Breakfast was buffet style but one of the best I've had. Everything seemed freshly made and the scrambled eggs were soft and creamy (which is rare). Staff were very helpful and responded to our request for more hangers very quickly.

Bathroom was mouldy and outdated, mould on the blind, window and bath.

Excellent central location (close to Covent Garden, China Town, Piccadilly Circus and major landmarks). The customer service by Jaime and Joris was wonderful and very guest oriented, thank you!
