Welcomed by very friendly staff who carried bags up the stairs. The whole place was immaculately clean. The breakfast was beautiful, the meals are also beautiful although very large. (If your a big eater) this is definitely a meal not to miss. The owner went out of her way to meet us and help us with places to visit. 5* from us. Thanks to all the staff.

5 of us stayed here for the second time after a family funerals in Durham. Staff couldn't have been nicer and looked after us well. Organised a table for us in the evening where we could sit with other family members who were not staying there. Hotel clean, comfortable and lovely breakfasts.

Evening meal was spoiled by two different types of music, one coming from the restaurant speaker, and the other from the kitchen radio. It was resolved when I mentioned it to the restaurant staff. Breakfast was a big letdown. We had breakfast in the room. The previous night, we were told we would have a selection of cereals, and pastries delivered, but none arrived. We asked for one breakfast to have poached eggs, but both arrived with poached eggs. We asked for one breakfast to have well done bacon, both arrived with standard bacon. Mushrooms and hash browns both had a strange taste, and seemed to be covered in 'herbs'? Not pleasant. Very disappointing.

Easy to find, room lovely and warm on arrival. I had notified the owner I would be arriving late evening. Good communication to how to book in. Comfortable bed. Fluffy towels. Delicious breakfast.

The room was INCREDIBLY hot. We switched off all the radiators and had the window open but we had to still sleep on top of the covers. Other than that (and a few marks on the sheets/towels, though nothing to worry about) it was lovely and would 💯 recommend 👍

Room was more than perfect for one night passing through. Super king for the hubby and I, space for our wee pooch and our 2 year old had the single sofa bed to herself - loved the fact it was HER bed! The staff were lovely, super welcoming. The food was delicious. We popped down for Breakfast and had the fish and chips (huge portion!), and Cumberland sausage (gravy was divine). Breakfast was just as delicious and the set up was just super cute. We stayed over night into Christmas eve, and there was the option for Bucks Fizz at Breakfast and tiny crackers to pop! Perfection. Just ideal to get into the Christ.as mood before we travelled further south

Nothing......if we had any issues, the staff would sort out, but we did not encounter any.

Check-in is easy, and the room is warm and clean. Breakfast is amazing with plenty of drink and hot food, including a vegetarian breakfast. Plenty of towels in the room and option of daily serving, if required. You can access additional tea and coffee facilities on the landing, which includes fresh milk and cold bottled water.

We keep coming back to Thomas Wright when travelling from Edinburgh to England because we always feel very welcomed. The hotel is cosy, clean and comfortable. Breakfast is superb and the hospitality is the simply amazing!! Thanks to Esther and her staff
