Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe room was small for the price - a squeeze for two of us but great decor and lovely toiletries, other than that we don’t have a bad word to say as we loved our stay here!
Breakfast was phenomenal, the staff were absolutely amazing and the dinner we had there was one of the best we’ve ever had. Lovely room too.

United KingdomAll good.
Such a stunning little hotel overlooking the sea and countryside of the south of Skye. The staff are all super lovely and accommodating — even when I was being a tad difficult asking for off menu items I was craving — after a week of walking. The restaurant is superb. We dined in several of Skye’s top rated restaurants but this was by far the best. The rooms are lovely, just rustic enough to keep one immersed in the gorgeous surrounds while modern and thought out enough to remain comfortable and cosy. And the area is perfect for walkers. We don’t drive so hiked down to the Mallaig ferry in the morning, which the hotel is perfectly suited for. Sheep right across the street, natural beaches stretching across the coast, mountains in the sky, a whiskey distillery a short walk away and a medieval castle overlooking the sea 10 minutes away. Surely what Skye’s all about?

United KingdomService at meal times was poor. With only 9 rooms in the hotel, it shouldn't take guests an hour to have breakfast.
Hotel was spotless and the staff were very friendly.

Loved everything about our stay, room was beautifully decorated, very clean, lovely bedding, maybe not important to some people but you feel the quality and had a great nights sleep. was so peaceful beautiful setting, well worth booking your evening meal while you are there it was truly amazing 😋 Massive shout out too Neil you were a true gentleman, very attentive, professional , took great pride in his work, I left feeling very well looked after. Breakfast again was amazing great selection of local produce. will definitely be returning.

United KingdomDinner was lovely, although rather overpriced especially being the only place within a certain distance serving food and not many options when we only wanted a snack or a few sandwiches due to a long drive and being a last minute decision to stay over due to an issue with travel arrangements. The gentleman who checked us in was friendly and was also our waited for the evening. I do feel because we were slightly dressed down for dinner we were looked down on a little which I felt rather disappointed by, not to mention angry. I feel the gentleman in question should be trained in making all guests feel extremely welcome and maybe work on his judgemental looks.
The property was lovely in itself, beautiful building with lovely decor. Great country walks in the vicinity and not a far drive from the Ferry Terminal. We received a fairly warm welcome but Chloe and the American gentleman who served us breakfast and checked us out on the morning of departure were most friendly and extremely helpful.

The staff were all fantastic from arrival until departure so a very big thank you. Nothing was too much trouble and all were happy to give us some tips on different places to visit or just a general chat. Special mention to Chloe, Neil (I think) and for the Chef. We originally planned on eating at different places on our 3 night stay however just couldn't resist the lovely food and its Masterchef styled presentation. The Isle of Skye is just an incredible island to visit and if we return we'd definitely return here. Thank you to everyone at the Toravaig House.

United KingdomWould be nice to have a room with a fridge to keep drinks cold Our room was quite tiny but I think other rooms are bigger We felt really close to our next door neighbour. They didn’t disturb us but I felt overly conscious of every noise.
Really good breakfast, really attentive staff, really happy to substitute items and make sure you get something that you like Very clean room Black out curtains which are essential in the long days in summer.

United KingdomWe paid £319 for a room with a sea view which I expected to be amazing and the view was nice but the room was tiny with a double size bed and the smallest bathroom in a luxury room ever. It was Very difficult for the two staff members to explain the menu which in itself was written in a bit of a poncy style that customers could understand and didn’t even have pricing on it. The food was overly fussy e.g . A delicious home made muffin with poached egg and spinach doesn’t need a load of strawberries mixed in. We parked at the far end of the car park behind the hotel and the general mess there gave a very poor impression for a boutique hotel and I am measuring this against the exorbitant price I paid. The hotel wasn’t full that night so the pricing was not a question of supply and demand.
This is a lovely country house with a few bedrooms and a restaurant. The girl on reception and her colleague in the restaurant did a great job looking after us and the tow of them ran all of front of house activities. The decor and ambience of the hotel is lovely.

United KingdomWe booked an evening meal and was dissapointed by the portion sizes. Two had scallops for a starter which where very small but overall tasty , two also had the lamb for main which was cold and made it difficult to eat. Puddings where acceptable, breakfast in the morning was also disappointing as the full scottish was pre-cooked and then reheated which made the vension sausage very dry , bacon was also very dry and the haggis potato scone was warm on top and fridge cold on the bottom. As the standard of the hotel was excellent the meals let it down overall. Would definately stay again but would go elsewhere for a meal.
Hotel was lovely, soon as I walked in the door new I was going to like the hotel , staff where very attentive and pleasant at all times. Room was what we expected.

United KingdomWe booked two standard rooms at a peak summer rate of £398 each per night! However we were sneakily assigned one cozy double (which is a cheaper room) without being told about the downgrade. When my daughter and her husband went to the room, it was tiny and cramped. The toilet was soiled and unflushed, and there were used toiletries there. In our room too there were partly used bottles of toiletries. It appears that this property does not replace the small bottles of toiletries with new ones when a guest checks out. The property is locked up at 11 pm, and we were not informed about this beforehand. No key is provided to the front door. There is a nice seating area outdoors and we wished to sit there chatting until late, catching up, as it was a lovely evening but the receptionist made it very uncomfortable for us saying that she could not go home until we were in our bedrooms. We were also told that the lounge lights would be turned off when she left, so we couldn't sit there either. The location isn't great. The property is close to the ferry terminal, and the area is scenic, but many of the other attractions in the Isle of Skye are quite far away. I wrote to the property about the downgrade and our other experiences but they have not bothered to reply.
Breakfast was nice. Otherwise we were quite unhappy.
