How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Tresillion House was easy to find and a real treat to stay at. An old style classic B+B with lovely comfortable rooms and everything included. Breakfast at a communal table was great and well prepared, allowing some good conversations with other travellers. Our host was perfect and works very hard at providing a wonderful experience for our two day stay and we’d happily stay there again.

Would have been more comfortable with black out blinds as the skylights let a lot of light in first thing which made it hard for me to stay asleep when the sun came up
Spacious property with absolutely gorgeous gardens. Breakfast was prompt and plentiful - the host is an excellent cook and made me feel very well looked after during my stay. Even though the room was advertised with a shared bathroom, I actually received my own private one. It was just set aside from the room, so wasn’t too inconvenient to access. Overall, a very pleasant experience and just what I needed before a full day of work!

Beautiful house and gardens. Host went above and beyond and made our stay great. Loved the little touches with toiletries and gorgeous homemade biscuits. Bed very comfortable and shower excellent. One mile from centre of Melton Mowbray so great location for us. Thank you!

Breakfast is served around one table which is shared with other guests. Unfortunately if you’re not comfortable with this arrangement, as far as I know there’s no alternative.
Friendly homely and relaxed atmosphere. With an almost personal old fashioned atmosphere which is often lacking in large corporate hotels. Lovely garden off road parking and lovely breakfast small in terms of portion size but quality food. Good Wi-Fi availability, clean room with comfortable bed clean roomy bathroom plenty of tea coffee and biscuits.

The breakfast though delicious could have been slightly more plentiful as in 2 rashers of bacon instead of one. Everything else was perfect and Alison is an amazing host, willing to go the extra mile.
Alison was very accommodating and helpful, we had a lovely spacious room. The breakfast was delicious though my husband felt it could have been a bit more generous. We had a walk around the gardens which were amazing. The stay was well worth the money, we would definitely return.

The only downside (which had nothing to do with the property) was that my partner and I were unable to book a local taxi firm back to the house from the wedding we attended in Melton meaning we had to book one from Leicester which was expensive. I would suggest that if you are travelling for an event to pre book your taxi well in advance (weeks).
The property is situated in a beautiful setting- the house had a wonderful garden which we could see from our room. Alison was a superb host - I felt as though she went the extra mile to ensure we had the best possible stay (she even leant me her shawl so I wouldn’t get cold attending a wedding). Our room was spotlessly clean with a wonderful selection of tea, coffee, biscuits, fruit, cold milk and chilled water. My partner gets very hot at night and our room even came with a dyson fan which he was chuffed with. We also loved the selection of toiletries in the bathroom. Breakfast was also lovely with home made sausages!

There was nothing not to like. This coupled with the most acceptable price made for excellent value.
The location in Melton Mowbray was just right for us. The property is secluded and yet only ten minutes walk from the town centre. The proprietor was totally approachable, friendly and helpful. Breakfast was a pleasure - both the food and the interaction with other guests. An extensive and well tended garden provided peace and tranquility.

That we had to leave
Alison is a great host. She does her utmost to accommodate her guests and makes her home open to them. We will definitely be back. We think that she is doing everything right.

Bed was very comfortable, there was a very well stocked selection of tea, coffee, hot choc and biscuits in the room. Very nice shower products and a lovely hot, powerful shower. We had a wonderful view of the garden which was beautiful. The breakfast was lovely with great choice and nicely cooked and served.
