Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomVery poor service in restaurant. We waited an hour for our food. It was also very cold due to lack of heating. In spite of raising this issue the manager made no attempt to contact us even though I requested that they did.
The spa, the gardens.

United KingdomThe Clock Tower restaurant was disappointing in terms of menu, value for money, and atmosphere. The kitchen staff were more focused on having a laugh than the food. I had the weirdest carbonara ever and had to leave it. The restaurant side seriously needs attention. The Internet was unavailable, and there were some minor housekeeping issues. Hopefully, once the renovation is complete, a better dining experience is provided and a more consistent focus on attention to detail, the hotel will be first class.
The hotel is a beautiful old building in lovely peaceful and picturesque grounds. The staff are friendly and very helpful. Breakfast was good, especially cooked breakfast. A small variety of continental style food. Our bedroom was clean and traditionally decorated and furnished in line with the hotels style. Plenty of parking and the spa area and pool is excellent.

United KingdomI found the food ok but for a venue of this standard it needs to be more on point, some back of house banter could be clearly heard whilst in the clock tower restaurant, the crockery was in need of an update but I’m sure this will all be resolved once the new restaurant is up and running.
Beautiful building with fantastic grounds and location tranquil peaceful place. This hotel and Spa once the current owner completes the renovations is a Gem I loved the Building and it’s grounds the Spa is a bonus!

NetherlandsThe building and location are amazing. Parked the cars up front and had some nice pictures with them. Building from the inside has nice parts as well. Unfortunately the reception was on the side instead of at the front. That would’ve been much better. Made the building a bit of a maze to find rooms. Rooms were fine, not so special but clean and fine.

New ZealandThere’s lots of little things that need doing here. It seems like it needs more investment in maintenance or else a reduction in room rates to get more people in.
I like the character of the hotel and the huge room. I also thought that the spa, steam rooms and pool were very good. The main pool was on the cool side of things but the spa pool was fine.

United KingdomWe did eat in the clock tower bistro which I believe will just be used mainly for spa guests once the main restaurant is up and running, the only down side to our stay was some rather loud banter/ colourful language coming from back of house, the food was adequate but I’m sure this will all be tweaked once the main restaurant is opened.
The location is lovely the grounds are really lovely and the Building is beautiful, I booked this for my 60th and our room was one of the suits in the main part of the Hotel. I understood that it is having ongoing restoration work but thought I’d give it a go. I can appreciate what the current owner is trying to achieve with a building of this age, I’m sure once it’s completed it will be an amazing place to stay. The reception team are professional and friendly as are the bar staff and waiting staff.

United KingdomFood took quite a long but it made it worth while because it was incredible. We found out at check out that we had been allocated the wrong room and the one we should have had would have been nicked, ours was okay. The clock chiming every hour and half hour was quite annoying.
Location was beautiful and the food was fabulous

United KingdomBathroom...no walk-in shower so struggled to climb in bath for shower. no Charging point for mobile phone . Breakfast ... Sausages were odd tasting , another guest who was sitting behind our table also said the Sausages were unedible, such a very odd taste... think they were OFF. All our table of five guests could not eat the sausage after first taste. Otherwise all meals were first class.
Very comfortable room , a huge bed . and very clean. leisure facilities great, pool, sauna steam room snooker room swimming pool I felt safe in .
