Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomEverything was perfect 😊
Jason and Teresa were excellent hosts throughout our stay. The room was beautiful and the views from our balcony were breathtaking. The breakfast was delicious both mornings and the highlight was watching the badgers at night in the garden 😊 We will definitely be coming to stay again and our family too.

United KingdomNothing, although when we come back we will book one of the larger rooms because The Chapel room is quite cosy.
The owners have down a fantastic job renovating this property and we really enjoyed our stay here at Ty Capel. The location is absolutely stunning being so close to and overlooking beautiful Llyn Clywedog. The setting is incredibly peaceful and you will very quickly become one with nature. However, you also have a small town just 10 mins away should you need anything. The facilities on site were very nice and clean and we certainly plan to come back. Superb breakfast’s served each morning in the conservatory was very pleasant start to each day and a nice way of catching up with your hosts and fellow guests.

United KingdomChapel Room had a boiler outlet right outside so couldn't keep the window open, not ideal for fresh air fiends but okay for one night. Breakfast was a little limited (no porridge or fresh fruit offered). We would not normally eat cooked breakfast but filled up on it, and it was very tasty.
Location was way into the countryside - delightful setting, very rural, lots of birdsong and owls nesting close by at this time of year. Lovely to see a badger in the garden at night as well. This lovely haven is set in the heart of countryside with nice hilly walks close by and a fabulous view over the reservoir below. Host also has a camera set up in the very pleasant guest lounge for watching wildlife and he was very nice. Breakfast in a nice sunny conservatory (great granary bread). Room and bathroom spotlessly clean.

United KingdomThe location isn't the most ideal if you're wanting other options for food or places to go but I loved being away from everything! For being somewhere pretty remote they had everything to offer.
The stay was incredible! I am still blown away with the quality of service, the comfort of the room and facilities, the quality of the breakfast and the amazing views!

United KingdomNothing, it was faultless.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay with you on April 7th - 9th. We loved the remote location but also the village is only 20 minutes away so we liked the convenience of that also. Our room we absolutely spotless and very cosy. We particularly enjoyed spending some time in the guest lounge and loved the idea of the outdoor cameras. We loved the decor and ambience of the room. We also enjoyed exploring around the garden, there’s lots to see. Our breakfast on both mornings were impeccable. We found both hosts to be friendly and helpful. We thought the room rate was very fair as the property has lots to offer and is done to the highest standards. The welcome book in the room is a very nice touch as it has a list of local places to eat as well as some recommendations for local walks. We can’t wait to return in the future as there are so many more walks we’d like to do and places to visit in Mid Wales and would not hesitate to look for anywhere else to stay. We would recommend visiting the Elan Valley in Rhayader, Hafren forest and The Clywedog reservoir which is located just behind the B&B.

United KingdomThe access road to the property is fairly steep, having arrived late in the evening (in December) the road had frosted over causing some difficulties getting there. The hospitality (Jason) kindly enough came and rescued us and gave us a lift the rest of the way!
The location was beautiful up on the hill with amazing rolling hills all around. The accommodation was well put together and decorated, making the place welcoming and comforting.

Amazing experience at Ty Capel. Stunning rooms, lovely views, great service. Good breakfast. Close enough to Llanidloes to get to food within a ten minute drive but completely dark and peaceful at night. The visiting badger was an added bonus. Nothing to criticise at all.
